Wow i knew about the yellows but never heard of oranges ,those yellow ones seem always be up for sale at an auction somewhere
Special paint 68 Shelby's also had the green WT7081.
Orange- WT5014.
Yellow-WT6066.
Coral orange-WT5185.
What does the green look like?production numbers?
Kind of a cloudy / milky military green, but glossy of course. Somebody in Maryland had a 350 I saw at a Sterling Va carshow 10+ years ago. Was for sale at the time.
I believe this car has been in CO a while and is well known to Pete and others.

The orange car above is not painted its original shade of orange.
There were six special paint colors.

3405 France ;) Not mine :'(
So is this orange KR not the correct orange?
There were three shades of orange in 1968
WT 5185 the same as Calypso Coral in 1969
WT 5014 the same as Grabber Orange in 1969
WT 5107 a "mustard brownish" colored orange
The two orange cars in this thread appear to be painted Calypso Coral, or WT5185, which is not the correct orange for either car based on the records.
In England a video of 3405

Hey Pete - do any of these colors translate into Poppy Red? I LOVE that color! That was the color of my first classic Mustang...what a beauty!
Poppy Red = Calypso Coral = WT 5185
All the same

Unfortunately a lot of misinformation on these cars. Some being repeated by the ignorant in-this thread
I'd love to hear the facts concerning this car.
There were 159 special paint cars. 15 cars were painted colors other than yellow.
Only 14 of those colors are known and documented. Until the information on the last car is available you cant make definitive statements...
There are nine orange cars, possible ten, painted three different shades.
There are four known cars painted WT5107. (There could potentially be five)
3397 is actually the only known four speed in that shade.
Heres a chart I did about 20 years ago. One car is still not identified.

Interesting that all these "special" special paint cars are clustered in the 3200-3300 Shelby VIN range and 204-205,000 Ford VIN range. Perhaps due to production scheduling at Ford providing a "window" to do a group of special process units? Pete can probably tell us if they are clustered within a specific production date range?
I believe they were. Special paint cars were ordered in three groups of 53 cars each. All the odd colors are in the first batch.
This was actually a key to finding out which cars were yellow
every time I see one of these the Charlie Brown special comes to mind " Its the great pumpkin "
Nice car !
