Can just the mast be replaced with a reproduction or does the entire assembly and cable have to be replaced? Thanks

It is not practical to repair just the mast. You can save the coaxial cable however.

Yes and back years ago i had many 69-70 mustang antenna with broken tubes so joel r Metro repo (who bought out the antenna company who made all antennas for the big 3 in detroit) installed or pressed nos tubes back on the stud in the base as its not hard to do as we did them while i was at his place visiting him. So save original antennas as u can fix them as most of the tubes are the same as its just the base and cable that are unique to the car. Look under base or somewhere u will see the casting id code to id antenna and if i remember correctly 69 70 mustang is 292 # cast. Joel also made the 69 shelby antenna from parts he had after i sent him my original to use for reference back years ago. Sadly joel lost most of his inventory from a fire back years ago.

The cable will pull out from the base.
How to people deal when using a home lift, and getting the car high enough, as not to have the antenna hit the ceiling when lifting the car up. I wish they made them so you could lower the antenna to the fender...
Drill hole in ceiling works haha or u can unscrew the base and lay antenna on the cowl. I have had to do this when loading cars on top deck of car transporters to get them thru the back door top clearance on some transporters .

On 65-68 it is a simple matter to loosen the antenna nut so as to allow the antenna to go down into the fender trunk etc. for added clearance above. I put a small spring paper clip on the antenna ball to keep antenna from dropping too far. I typically do this when putting on a car cover but the same thing can be done to raise your car higher on the left it takes about two minutes at most
I cut off the broken part. File the little post on the base a bit smaller and epoxy the mast back on

The 69/70 Shelby will antenna will collapse down below the roofline of the fastback or the convertible You can't raise your car higher then that anyway. That is unless you have the wrong antenna. On a regular Mustang or Boss you are on your own.
