Curious if the rivets are actually holding the scoop to the hood or are the rivets just decorative?
I'm wondering because I intend to paint the blue stripe on the scoop, but I haven't had the opportunity to remove the underhood insulation to see how the scoop attaches. I figure someone here would know off the top of their head.

A proper question for Team Shelby - depends on if it's one of the early garbage scoops or one of the FG warranty/upgrade ones.

There were multiple versions. First was a urethane or rubber painted silver scoop with a body color stripe in the center. These were riveted all the way around. They collapsed in the heat and the fix was a foam block that didn't solve the problem. They then went to a fiberglass scoop that had faux rivets all around. Either had clips or studs and nuts to attach. At some point during the multiple versions they went from all rivets to 4 rivets on each corner with the remaining non functional, to all faux rivets with clips and studs as a method to attach. I restriped dozens of these cars under warranty when new, due to shelby using an intermediate grade silver vinyl which deteriorated rapidly outdoors.

What Mr Dave said is correct or all of the above is true.
To add to this dilemma, if you wash your Shelby GT (with true rivets on the scoop) and don't remove all the moisture properly, or if it's not garage kept and sometimes even when it is you will get oxidation on your hood.
Because steel rivets used on an aluminum hood is a chemical reaction waiting to happen, now add (moisture) water....shazam!
You can just pop out a few of the Black Plastic Round Push In Clips holding up the Insulation, pull it down just enough to shine a light up in there and see how it is installed.
Thanks for the responses. Mine is one of the replacement scoops. When they replaced the scoop they neglected to put the blue stripe down the middle of it. It looks kinda funny to me with the scoop being all silver, so I'm going to paint the stripe on it.

I would do it with the scoop in place rather than removing it.
It would have been easier to remove the scoop so I wouldn't have to mask the entire car just to paint a little stripe on the scoop. However, after pulling the insulation down a bit to inspect it, it is apparent that the scoop is attached to the hood with epoxy. It's going to have to be painted on the car.
