Title: GT350 Ammeter wiring

Hi all, may have a dumb question but I'm running my ammeter harness to the solenoid. I was wondering do 350's have the ammeter junction block like 500/kr's have.

My dad who restored car 00333 said he had done research when he restored it back in the 2000's and found the junction block was for 500/kr's but not 350's so he didn't install one but now doesn't remember how he did it. From my own research and images of restored 350's all I see is junction boxes.

 I want to make my clone as accurate as possible and was wondering how to wire the ammeter the factory way if possible

All 1968s used a junction block

To add see the attached wiring diagram Branda Performance has had on their website for decades(thank you very much and just one reason to support them) . Basically all of the power from the cars system is routed by way of the positive side of the starter solenoid to and through the Amp gauge and then back again to junction block where the cars  wiring is attached. That ebb and flow of current is what you see in the gauge needle.

Which wire would I disconnect so I do not risk the fire hazard? I don't need that gauge to work....at risk of a fire. If that fire risk is true?

The power is routed through the gauge, so its a wired/not wired  option

A couple different ways to do that but none that will not look funky under the hood compared to a normal Shelby. One way will have to disconnect both black and red amp gauge wire and then make a jumper wire from the solenoid to the junction block. another is disconnect the wires to the amp gauge and take the wires off the junction block and put them on the solenoid like a regular Mustang. Your gauge is taken out of the circuit and will not work.  Of course there is always a risk of some kind but out of all of the 67-70 Shelbys over the close to 60 years now that are wired this way I can't ever recall experiencing ,hearing about or reading about about a issue of fire related to the amp gauge if wired like the factory. Issues typically happen if someone who does not know what they are doing or have poor workmanship skills have been messing around with the wiring.

Make sure you mount junction block correctly, different on 350/500 vs KR (not block but location)
