Looking Back / Re: SAAC 3

I believe the USRRC team car CSX2494 was at Pasadena, I am not sure if it was at the Ontario track.  Anyone have pictures of it from either location that year?

The address shown on the old registration, 4210 Del Rey Ave, Marina Del Rey, CA, is just across Lincoln Blvd from the old Carter Ave Shelby facility.  The CA license plate, letter combo ZLN, on the 69 Mustang is close to the ZLS plate that was issued to my father on the 69 Ford Van he bought.

From the Petersen archives, a GT40 based land speed racer at the Bonneville Salt Flats.  Anyone know the story of this car?

But I would not be upset if the page flipping option was removed.

I use all three: flip through the pages online, then download the whole issue to have the electronic copy, then get the printed annual, which I read through again.

No Sale at 800k bid

The auction listing also says

Please note this car will be offered on the historic MSO. The winning bidder will have the option of purchasing the car on a bill of sale with the original MSO included or the option of receiving a title, which will require the surrender of the MSO

I searched here for references to the Stilltime Collection, but did not find any, hope this hasn't been covered in the past.  Here is a link to a few pictures that are actually tagged as "Cobra".  There may be more, try browsing their Racing collection.

Nice.  When you no longer need that CA plate, it is worth money, if you have the pair.  Even without the old sticker now showing, it is worth money to car owners in CA, as a candidate to be retro-fitted, but with the sticker, for someone with that year of car, that will save them from having to buy the year sticker separately.

I love watching Adam-12, to see if I can tell where outside shots were filmed. There is an episode named "Venice Division" which features a scene shot inside what is currently the bar/burger place called "The Shack", right across the street from the Harbor Room, where Carroll used to go.

I love the black California plate with the stickers peeled back to 1969. My '67 GT500 is an original black plate California car that still had them on it when I bought it in 1982. I peeled the stickers back to '67. There was a '67 Corvette at Cars and Coffee on Eastern Avenue that also had black plates peeled back to 1967. Pretty cool to see.
Are you talking about display only plates, or plates that the car is actually registered on?

Cars from the 60's that have been continuously registered in CA since the 60's, would have black plates with a current year sticker, and no other year sticker. But CA has a program that allows retro-fitting the black plates onto 63-69/70 cars, and those would have two year stickers, one for the model year of the car, plus the current year.  It normally would not be legal to have a CA black 60's style plate with only the old year visible. My discussion excludes the new style black CA legacy plates.

That Yamaha ad is neat.

They did a couple with '67s Shelby's and at least one with a '66 Shelby
There are some with Cobras's...They must have had a CS / SAI connection.

A Donald Osborne style tenuous connection - Bill Krause later had a motorcycle dealership on La Brea in Inglewood CA that sold Yamahas.

Had a chance to stop and take some pics of the Isky building on Slauson, in Culver City.
