47 years ago, I stopped at a house I was walking past to look at a similar 427 Galaxie. original owner and the car had a black interior and 16,000 miles on the odometer. I was 14 at the time and he told me I could have the car for $1400 Dollars! it was way more than I had available, so the car sat there. I bought a 390 Fairlane GT for $100 3 years later but the Galaxie never left my mind. I stopped by there 10 years later and it was gone. but I had a good chat with the owner about the car and his time spent with it. People that don't believe how cheap these Muscle cars were did not live through the gas crisis that got most of them parked.

This is a positive and intelligent move by the club. no one is or has been asleep at the wheel and this is just one more example of that!

It is sad to hear of another enthusiast's passing. Please extend our condolences. I believe he is sitting with Carroll and Ken hearing some amazing stories!

Quote from: FL SAAC on September 28, 2024, 07:19:22 AMJust amazing how often these automatic to stick conversions happen.

Just like the white 1966 five speed I looked at in our backyard Fl and passed on.

You ended up buying it months later, a few years ago

Great looking Hertz.

Best of luck on your sale
It certainly adds to the driving experience. I had a 67 GT350 with an automatic and when I put ityt together I recall being shocked at how high the revs were at 60 mph as the car was in third and final gear!!

Ive seen the car in person at Carlisle and it is exactly as Bill described. The owner is rather meticulous as I know one of his former employees who knew I was a Shelby guy. This is a great car thats been well maintained.

Damn. I was the only 2005 FORD GT in attendance. I registered for the show, had it on display and still did not win!!

Jay Sebring also cut Jim Morrisons hair. He had a 66 GT350 and Jim really liked it. He told his record company he wanted a Shelby Mustang and they bought the infamous "Blue Lady" 1967 Nightmist Blue GT500 for him. I do not think the Murders would have happened if Steve Mcqueen was in the house. He would have fought back for certain.
