I was assuming the underlayment Was placed is such a way it would help the trunk mat to lay flatter on the emissions cars. Do these cars must have a very poor trunk mat appearance?

If anyone has a picture of the underlayment for the California emissions cars it would be helpful. Getting the mat to fit over the fuel tank ducting is problematic.

Great topic. My 2 passions in life are cars and airplanes. Spent the last 40 years working on Learjets which enabled me financially to own 2 GT-500's. Both are iconic products produced by visionary people. Along the way I have flown on every Learjet model produced except the 85 which was cancelled. Spent 3 years in Europe operating Lear 35's and been to 51,000 ft numerous times. Make your passion your career and you will never regret a day of work.

Concours Talk / Re: 1970 CA Emissions

I own 2121 it was sold new in San Diego. It has the evaporative emission system in it. When I restored the car the emissions system was a challenge to understand. I can state that it differs from the production system in that the vapor line was cut into pieces and their routing was different. My assumption is that this was done in order to avoid pulling the engine and transmission. Also different is the mounting bracket for the expansion tank was not welded to the trunk floor like the production installation was. Self tapping screws were used. Also different is the mounting for the antenna. The expansion tank occupies the space that the antenna normally occupies. The antenna must be angled back to clear the tank. I believe the bottom is secured by tywraps. I have pictures if you want them.
