Thanks again Dan.  Guy advertising a distributor now as for an early Cobra, and this help verify my hunch it wasn't.

Concours Talk / Re: Original 64 Cobra Alternator?
December 17, 2023, 06:22:38 PM
Ok.  Thanks Bob.

I have the alternator at a local old school shop for rebuild.  These guys have been doing it for a long time, but are going out of business this month, so took a bunch in for them to do.

I have no use for it other than resale.  Think it would be worth anything to this community, and would it be worth more rebuilt or left alone?

They also said the push on pulley can be a problem to get to stay once removed.  But sounds like that pulley is incorrect anyway.

Concours Talk / Original 64 Cobra Alternator?
December 17, 2023, 05:18:43 PM
Has anyone seen this alternator or have any info on it?  Picked it up a while back and found out something similar was used on Cobras at some point.  The back half looks the same anyway.

It is the same as this alternator on eBay listed as being for a Cobra, although I don't trust that.

I have been told it has a 64 style drive end case, I assume indicated by the dual gussets on the screw bosses.

Thanks

Hi,

I just got this 3259-1 service replacement for $300.  Don't know if that's a good deal or not, but seems about right.  I never see anything with the LeMans bowls outside of this forum or eBay.  No S2MS number.

I was wondering what the forum thought of the price, and if anyone could tell me which run or reissue this was.  I know it is not an original as it has the squirter boss and 4 digit date, but still I like it.   :)

It may end up on a hipo 289 I am thinking about putting in my Fairlane.

Here are some pictures for future reference as well.

List 3259-1, LeMans center pivot bowls
   Date  2539 - 253rd day of 69, 79, etc.
   Metering blocks
      Front: Left L3259 above 4756, Right - 4754 above a 4
      Rear: Left L3259 above 4560

Thanks in advance,
Rich

Concours Talk / Re: Cobra Carter dual quad question
November 30, 2021, 10:13:49 AM
Thanks for the feedback.  I'm considering it even if it doesn't have the correct carbs, obviously the price has to reflect that.

As you said 427heaven, it will look cool under the hood and add some pop to my 289 hipo.

Thanks,
Rich

Concours Talk / Cobra Carter dual quad question
November 29, 2021, 09:57:56 AM
Not sure if this is the correct forum, but looking at a Cobra dual quad for sale, but don't think it has the correct Carter carbs.  It has j2-9400s but reading correct ones should be 3258S and 3259S.

Also, was the Cobra Carter dual quad intake ever reproduced?  I read the Holley version was.

If anyone can confirm, or provide more info on how to authenticate, it would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Rich
