The way I've always verified, besides the weight difference, is the first radius inside the outer Flat Surface Diameter.
A larger 'Thumb' radius, or about the size of a Quarter, is original and are not reproduced in that configuration that I've seen.
The smaller 'Pinky' radius, or about the size of a Dime, is what all the repro's have.

There are soooo many repro's out there that I've been able to score a few originals at swap meet used repro prices / $20-30!

Yes, we all do.
Always a somber time seeing all the wonderful pics posted of the GT350 Tours he anchored.
We just did our 3rd annual 'Toast to Woody' last month at our old Watering Hole.... Kristopher's in Matthews.
Hard to believe it's been 3-years.... We Face-Timed his daughter Noel and everyone got to visit.

We're already planning on another May gathering at the Aviation Museum. One of our CRMC members is working on possibly getting a local P51 Mustang to fly in for the event and do a photo-op. May cost a PP fee to cover his expenses but we'll see. More to come on that....

Brian, call me some time to discuss further.

We have 20 cars confirmed from Carolina Regional Mustang Club for this Saturday's event.
Mixture of 1st Gen 65-73's as well as All Gen Shelby's 65-2023.
Weather looks to be picture perfect with Sunny and 79 deg!
Looking forward to a great event and thanks for letting us join in on the gathering!

Sounds like a great idea and one I'd like to attend.
Unfortunately, Saturday April 4th is the same date as the Spring Charlotte Autofair at Charlotte Motor Speedway - April 2-5, 2020.
Not sure who all attends it, but it's a pretty big deal. I'm also an AACA member and will be working the event and will also have a car entered in the AACA Spring Nationals Judged car show going on out in front.

If another date is selected, I will try and make it.

When I attempt, it says 'the upload folder is full or I need to contact the registrar'.

Now..... I see many differences.....
Tube size, tube arrangement in the collectors, slightly different configurations, etc.

Appears what I have is later OTC Doug's versions that are both old and NOS.

These of MrLea's look spot on and original to the R-Models.

Now I'm wondering if mine will even fit.... Looks like a mock-up is in order in the Donohue car prior to any ceramic coatings!

The end result is they'll be mounted to a warmed over VIN'd '67 K-Motor with oversize 192/160 valves and an HM Solid Cam, with a set of 48 IDA Webers acquired from Jim Maxwell's 289 Cobra (with his permission of course) .
It'll look good and breathe well I hope!

They're destined for a 5R105 Guardsman Blue tribute, that I'm building.

Don't think Mark Donohue would much approve of Chevy Orange Headers..... though he did race Camaro's!

They'll be ceramic coated in silver more than likely.

Had an offer to post pics for me so I'll forward those tonight, to further stir the pot on the Doug's vs. Belanger debate....

I worked the Tech Inspection on Thursday, the Track event on Friday, driving the Pace Car and organizing the Parade Laps.
I also MC'd the seminars for the guest speakers on Saturday.

My restored White '66 is in the Preview Museum on display, and I drove my unrestored '66 K-Code 2+2 to the event.
Ben parked next to me in his black '68 vert.

They are hoping to have construction completed by Nov-Dec time frame.
Then spend the next several months decorating, organizing all the displays and selecting the cars.
The Preview Museum will remain open throughout construction to the Grand Opening.
Then it will be repurposed for a special project that will be announced at a later date..... stay tuned!

The Mustang Owners Museum (MOM) will have it's Grand Opening along with the Mustang's 55th Birthday Celebration, as part of the National Mustang Day celebration, on April 17th, 2019.
There will be a 2-day Track Event on Thurs. & Friday 4/18 & 4/19, followed by a car show and closing banquet ceremony on Sat. 4/20.
That Sunday, 4/21, is Easter Sunday and will remain Sacred with no MOM activities.

If you're a Charter Member, look for additional details later in the year or early 2019, about a potential special 'preview' gathering the weekend before the 17th. Again, stay tuned!

Should be a memorable event so put it on your calendars!

I do know that the supposed originals I have from Corey, silver and surface rust, are literally identical to Earl J's, and have 12" long collectors.

The Orange set, 'with someone's fingerprints.....lol', also have 12" long collectors. I'd have to get them down and look for the D609 part number.
They are also overall the same length with the same diameters, and same 3pt. collector flange. Maybe those believed to be originals, are Doug's as well??

Belanger R-Model Headers.... Wow, haven't seen these discussed in a long time.
As I understand, they came from SA on the last 10 or so R-Models in the final batch.
I bought an original set from Corey Lawson back at SAAC 31, that were from either 5R535 or at least in the used parts that came back from Peru.
They were rough and identical to the ones shown above.... uncanny to be honest. Have the numbers '636' stamped into the flanges.
I thought about having some duplicated with Brent Galloway as a spare for 5R534, but never materialized.
I since found an NOS set a few years later, which I believe to be a later set made in the late 60's or early 70's, but they're exact.
Story goes, they were purchased originally for a '67 Ranchero project I believe, but didn't fit properly.
So were never installed and became garage art until I spotted them on either eBay or Craigs List.
They were painted Hugger Orange so definitely flew under the radar!
