Here is pictures of a C4AW-4025-A, small bearing single rib case, dated 6J1. Notice the small bearing indicator "X", and no fill plug or fill plug provision casting.

Quote from: cboss70 on August 06, 2024, 10:36:10 AMSo, no-one has any knowledge about the unique characteristics of the 65 center sections? :)  Do the Shelbys/k-codes have a unique yoke versus a center from a 9" rear from some other 65 ford model or can I find any center section with dates I want and it will "look" the same and bolt tight in? Any unique differences I could see visually? I would love to arm myself with as much knowledge as I can before attending some of the fall swap meets and doing internet searches just seems to provide conflicting information.  Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom.

On a side note, I did find a picture showing the differences between the 65 and 66 snubber brackets which was helpful but that alone doesn't always help as people often sell the centers without that bracket.

The yoke on the left is what a '65-'66 Shelby used, but not just limited to them.  1310 sized u-joint, roughly 5-1/8" overall height, non-Daytona pinion bearing style.

Quote from: shelbydoug on August 07, 2024, 10:39:07 AMA C4AW casting is a nodular case. The N was added at sometime in the 1968 time frame.

There are other C4AW cases, like the C4AW-4025-C which is a single rib, large side bearing case, indicated by the "O" on the inside, which is not a nodular case.  This one is dated 4J21 and would be dated correctly for a 1965 Mustang.  A 289 HIPO Mustang would've used the C4AW-4025-A, small side bearing version of this case, in '65-'66 maybe later.  It would have an "X" cast on the inside indicating the small side bearings.  Of course the large bearing case pictured below would work just fine and look the part in a Shelby, but a person would have to use a large bearing carrier.  Notice no fill plug or even cast area for a fill plug.  Some were cast for a fill plug but not tapped out.
On a different side note, The "N" did not appear on the double rib Nodular cases until late October/real early November of 1968.

Parts For Sale / ‘67 GT500 oil cap SOLD
May 29, 2024, 06:26:53 PM
For sale is a restored FoMoCo oil cap for the oil fill tube on a '67 GT500 and other Ford FE engines.  This cap with the extension was never reproduced. It will not fit on a '67 GT500 oil fill tube with the extra nipple for the spark arrestor that was used on some California emissions cars, it only fits on the straight oil fill tubes. SOLD
Thanks!

Appeals / Re: 94 Bondurant Mustang GT school car

He came to our little local Ford club car show, here in Iowa, back in about 1991-92 and gave us driving lessons using new cars from the local Ford dealership.  We moved all the cars off the dealership lot and setup a road course to go around.  He really liked the 4.6L Crown Victorias and boy could he drive one!  We also tore up a new LX 5.0L Mustang.  He gave me this autographed picture that day because I was his helper.

Up For Auction / Re: 67 GT500 air cleaner base
February 01, 2024, 10:53:16 AM
Yes, it is real and is for a '65-'67 427 Fairlane/Comet/Galaxie with closed crankcase emissions because of the elbow.  The curved elbow is the second version, a 90 degree, sharp elbow was the first style, similar to the early GT500 usage.  You can tell it's those applications by the rectangular shaped pad cast into it.  These were never reproduced.

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: part identification
January 26, 2024, 11:37:23 AM
Jeremy,
Are these from Tom's '69 Shelby, And does it have A/C?  With the December 9th date code on the lower dash bracket, it would be the right time frame.

The middle bracket is a '69-'70 Mustang/Cougar under dash bracket.  It is located right above the gas pedal and goes from one of the brake/clutch pedal firewall support bolts to the lower dash. See first picture

The third bracket could be from a '69-'70 Mustang as well.  Possibly the center A/C duct bracket from the duct to the cowl/firewall. See second picture.

This C0AZ-9350-C described as OE for 427 Cobra just listed on ebay......https://www.ebay.com/itm/166552504273

Yeah, Allen has had that for sale numerous times for awhile. It is a 4918, C0AE-9350-E, which was eventually replaced by the C0AZ-9350-C, 0294 pump.

According to the April 1965 Ford Master Cross Reference List, the C5AE-9350-G is the C0AZ-9350-C, which is the A/C 0294.  It should actually be 40294, which is what is stamped on the pumps.  It's a Ford MPC typo, in my opinion.

Those two Scott Drake pieces are for open crankcase or closed pcv?

Villages can go many directions. It's important to avoid the "Village of the Damned".

The larger, twist in, 6766-12A is for the drivers side valve cover, non-emissions, or "cookie cutter" cap on closed system.
The small, push on, 6766-5, goes on the intake oil filler tube and was used for both closed and open emissions.  Don't ask me why a closed emissions system has a vented cap on the oil filler tube, when the oil filler tube is connected to the air cleaner base for closed crankcase air flow.  GT350 closed emissions use a non-vented cap that hooks to the air cleaner base.

Whoever devised the closed emissions  system on the '67 GT500 shows a complete misunderstanding of how it is supposed to work. As a matter of fact it cannot work as built originally. It creates a big vacuum leak to the intake manifold.

I was just asking because the Scott Drake listing does not specify open or closed, it just states original applications which to me, as you pointed out, are confusing.
They are open emission caps "that is just the way it is "as quoted from Special Ed. It isn't Ford writing the applications it is someone who works for NPD . Unfortunately you have to look passed their good intentions of being accurate and take there descriptions with a grain of salt.

I was waiting for you to say that!!  I was going to, but figured I would give you the honors!  ;)
