Thanks to you both for the thumbs up!

The price included replacing what I guess passes for a headliner - the black padding on the sides.  But I was surprised that there also seems to be a bit of thick black fabric throughout the top.  Not sure if the originals came that way but this has it.

Just got my GT-350 convertible top replaced.  Was very impressed with the workmanship, price and the shop's access to High-quality OEM materials.  He's located in the North Bay area (Solano County).  Had a lot of high end and collector cars in the shop doing all manner of upholstery work.  Apparently has been there for years.  PM me if you want the contact info.

Epilogue:  Still not sure of the best place to buy an OEM top, but I did find a great place to get the entire job done, and THEY have the connection for the best top.  Entire job was under $1,700 all in.  You can't tell it from new - split rear window and all.

If anyone in the North SF Bay Area needs upholstery work or a new top, PM me and I'll give you their information.  I was very happy with the outcome.

6 days order to doorway in California.  All in great shape and looks like a full week(end) of fun reading. ;D

@CoralSnake Thank you for that.  At least they ALMOST got it accurate.

To the Registry: For the record, I'll state it here because I don't know where else to correct it...the Wyoming eBay listing in 6/19 never happened - it was a scam. I was never aware of it.  Someone must have lifted the pictures from the BaT listing where I bought it and tried to represent it as their own.  It has never been offered again for sale since my purchase in 3/19.

Just saw this and ordered mine today.  Only got my car a year ago and reported the history and other info in October, so doubt it made the Registry - this time.  But I look forward to having the list of all the other great cars anyway.

Thanks, @Coralsnake.  That's quite a compliment coming from an expert like you.  I recall we communicated when I got it about a year ago.  Happy to say it's been a real joy - no surprises - and just working now on making it even better.

Again, thank you all for the wise counsel.  My shop spoke with shelbypartsstore in WI and the box from my car (#3117) will be enroute in the next day or so.

Any recommendations on the best place to get a replacement (white) OEM convertible top with split glass rear window for my 1968 GT 350?

Thanks in advance.

1968 Shelby GT350/500/500KR / Steering Wheel Box
April 08, 2020, 06:05:28 PM
Hello:

I sent my 1968 GT 350 in to the shop for excess play in the steering.  They say it needs a new steering box but are unsure if it is a 16:1 or 20:1 ratio.  It is obviously the original on my 115K car. Both boxes are available.  Does anyone know which is the correct box for the car?  Thanks.

Steve
