Cars For Sale / Re: 1968 GT500 early car on Facebook
October 03, 2023, 08:36:28 PM
This car has been discussed here in a couple posts.  It's been up for sale for a while and I took a look at it a few months ago.

The guy has owned it for a long time.  It was a "driveway" restoration many years ago.  None of the drivetrain is original and it's missing a handful of parts.  The engine needs some TLC as it would barely run and has a pretty good tap on the top end.  On the plus side, it was a very solid car.

Somethings not right. The guy who won it in the raffle decades ago had it up for sale a month or two ago and there were some issues and the guy wasn't willing to go the extra mile in order to figure out whether or not the issues were something that could be dealt with (he claims he was too old and that he really just didn't care) so now all of a sudden it's for sale by this other guy. I don't know - just somethings not right. Be sure to do your due diligence on the car if you're interested in purchasing it.

Everything is right and all good Steve. I have the car in my garage. I've had lengthy conversations with the older gentleman and he tried his best to provide as much information as possible.  He also added that he didn't want to pay you 2-3k to come out and confirm the numbers.  I also got your message on FB too so that should answer your question.

Pete- the ad got flagged on CL so that's why it went down.

The axles usually had a C7OW forging number on the end of the axles. Often very difficult to read.

Great.  Thanks.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / 9" Rear Specifications
June 25, 2020, 12:20:16 PM
A few questions in reference to the rear/center/axles on the GT500:

-Did the GT500 have only 2 ratio options based on if it was a manual or auto?
-Should the manual only have a 3.50 ratio and was this open or a trac lok on all of them?
-Lastly, anything physically specific on the exterior of 31 spline axles that would make them unique to this car?

Thanks in advance!

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Shock tower caps
June 15, 2020, 09:32:43 AM
I've done quite a bit of searching, but apparently not enough to find the correct answer.  Some pictures of restored 67's have shock tower caps with the welded washers and some do not.

I guess the simple question: does a 67 GT500 have the regular caps or the welded washer type?

Thanks!
Mike
