SAAC Forum Discussion Area / Autolite 4100 600 cfm
September 25, 2023, 05:19:09 PM
I have a recent rebuilt original Autolite 4100 600 cfm. carb

I am now in need of the correct fuel filter; most of the ones i have experienced, the diameter of the opening where the filter screws into the carb it too narrow.

Any recommendations.
Thanks

Had some work done on my 289 K code original engine.
Needing to know what the timing at Idle should be set at??

Since it is an automatic trans car (C4), should the timing at idle be 6 deg ???

Thanks

Needing recommendation(s) for a reliable shop to replace timing chain cover gasket and intake manifold gasket on my original '66 Hertz Car
I live in Nassau county Florida; zip code 32034.

Yes absolutely positive!!
A black light sensitive solution was added to the crank case.
The car was driven several miles. Then area of suspect was scanned with a black light;
yes the leak is coming from the rear main seal.

Thanks for all the input. However,
I did not take part in the actual rear main seal installation. I hired it out to shops that do  this type of work  for a living.
I am for certain that the lip of the seal was facing the correct position. I saw pictures of the seal after it was removed the second time.
and the lip position was correct.

To my knowledge, all the above suggestions were followed and implemented.
That is why this is so frustrating and why to next option is to install the the original rope seal used back in '66.

After 3 attempts at replacing the rear main seal on my '66 GT 350 Hertz car; the seal is STILL massively leaking.
The correct  neoprene 2 piece seal was installed each time.
Has anyone on this forum had a more successful experience with replacing the rear main seal?? or with what is called a "rope Seal" .
Thanks

Rear main seal replaced twice. Oil continues to leak through the seal.
Crankshaft is scratched and chipped.
No other choice but to either replace it (the crankshaft) and have material added to the scared area then have it resurfaced. Or replaced. wondering what would be the better option??? Replace or rework the original??

Try Paradise Wheels in San Marco, Ca.
Craig may be able to help you out.

Having issues with the crankshaft in my original  '66 GT350 Hertz car (SFMS1474)

The car has the original engine installed, however, the crankshaft will either need to be resurfaced or replaced.

Q: Should i have it resurfaced, or replaced??

Looked for PM in my messages. However, nothing appears to be sent.
I do additionally have 4 original/authentic Hertz Chrome Mag wheels, center caps, and lugs with the Red (not yellow) backing Hertz center Hertz cap decals. Actually I have five, four plus one in the truck. I love my 10 spokes though however, may be willing to part with the Chrome Mags
