Bob- what orientation?- I understand it's under the forward coil mounting bolt on the intake manifold but should it be parallel to the coil and run fore and aft or mounted 90 degrees and perpendicular to the coil- kinda pointing to the distributor? Chris's photo has it pointing forward and bent downward? As I can't find an unmolested photo anywhere and opinions are mixed- what was factory correct?

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / location of metal engine ID tag
November 29, 2023, 05:50:09 PM
I believe the metal engine ID tag was mounted under the coil attachment bolt (my car is a GT500 with smog) in which the coil is on the intake manifold. My question is should it be laying flat under the coil or oriented towards the front and bent downward so it can be read? I have been searching all over looking for a photo but have not come across one? Any feedback would be helpful. Thanks

Very interesting. Plates show first calif registration year in 1968 and was a non emissions car. I wonder how they registered it without passing the calif emissions testing and physical verification of emissions equipment on the car that started in 1966?  If I'm not mistaken #742 has a 2536 DSO which came with the non emissions 400F package- no thermactor.  I know the DMV guys have made mistakes when doing their visual inspections during registration process- at least they did mine back in 1983. My car #636 was a DSO 2538 402F package originally but my smog stuff was in a box in the trunk and I waffled my way past his curious mind and I was able to register it without it on the car. Lucky me I guess. Regardless, I wonder how many 400F packages were sold and registered in California?

Don't want to steal the thread but I just saw Virginia Classic Mustang is now also selling Group 27 Autolite AGM re-pop's  at https://www.virginiaclassicmustang.com/GROUP-27-AUTOLITE-BATTERY-MAINTENANCE-FREE-SEALED-STYLE-P1604.aspx,   Now if we could just get group 22's...

Have not been on in a while but did we ever find copies of the missing SVO sheets for DSO's 2534, 2536, 2538 and 2540?
