I am open to offers just in case anyone is interested.
Thanks! Joe

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: Autolite battery cover
November 21, 2021, 08:40:23 PM
I was unaware it was not a real battery. It is not advertised as a case with garbage inside. It says it is a reproduction. I thought it would finish off my GT500 A/C car.
Live and learn!

Correct. I was being sarcastic since they are inly putting a golf cart battery inside. Its not a real battery so why not make it a hair bigger so the correct one could sit inside. Seems only sane to think a GT500 needs a larger cca than a golf cart. Some changes are 'acceptable' in the real world as I bought it to enjoy. What good is it if it wont start when I command! But I still like to look under the hood and feel like I am back in time. Seems the battery stands out like a sore thumb.

Yes. I thought of this. I have a large shop actually. I measured it up against every battery and none fit. Thats probably why this one is dead. Whatever fool thought of making this repop made it the exact same size as the called for 24F. No room to spare.

Tony. Intercity lines is the only way to go. Closed, owner operated, no damage. Use them for my high end. Look them up. Good luck.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Autolite battery cover
November 20, 2021, 01:08:49 PM
Hi guys. I bought a battery repro from year one and it died right away. Some guy named Jims battery in Ohio made it and apparently has very bad reviews. It was advertised as a turbo battery but was not. In either case, havent been able to drive my car since it has been dead every week even on the charger. I finally got an Interstate 24f but hate the way it looks. Can someone tell me who makes the best looking/fitting cover? I see a few, caps glued on, caps off, not sure and am guessing they are all cheap anyway. Just don't want to waist any more money and it seams everyone makes cheap crap for these cars. Cobranda sells junk and so does everyone else. Funny how the car could be worth 300 and the parts are all garbage. Does anyone make high end stuff anymore?

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: Radio speaker
November 12, 2021, 09:02:34 AM
Thanks for the reply. I see the other link for speakers says "not for a/c cars". I figure its because the vent is center dash under the speaker and the magnet is deep and will interfere.
I, however, do have an a/c car and an guessing I should remove the current speaker to take some measurements. I was hoping to complete the job of installing he new radio conversion and speaker at the same time because I know myself and the car will sit in pieces if I have to remove it and he a/c and hen order something  and I will never have time to put her back together or forget how to. That is why I was hoping there was a part number somewhere that I could order in advance. It took a while for Fred to make me a fuel pump also, since the a/c made the fit more difficult as well. Seems here were very few with a/c and no info out there on certain limited use items like a speaker mod for a vent and a longer fuel pump body on only a handful of 67's with a mystery Z on the tag!

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Radio speaker
November 11, 2021, 10:25:47 AM
Hi guys! Happy Veteran's Day. Thank you all for your service.
I purchased an original 67 radio to have the modern internal conversion chip added inside to give me FM as well as an aux plug. It took some time with all the covid stuff and it is finally on its way back to me. My question is does anyone know of a speaker available that will fit in the original space on my dash that can handle the new sound. Does anyone know what size is in there and or have a suggestion as to an unnoticeable direct bolt upgrade without involving damaging my dash. My original is an am only paper speaker and I am pretty sure it will sound terrible and blow out now. Thanks!

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: Title as ford or shelby

Is it of consequence that it is a Shelby on the insurance card and Ford on the registration for a police officer born in the year 2000?

Hi all. I recently purchased a 1967 GT 500 (#1979) and notice the title says Ford. Is this normal, or should it say Shelby under make?
I am sure the part time DMV specialist didn't care about the 50+ years of history when typing it up.
Does it matter? Are there both forms out there? The VIN is listed as the Shelby however.
Merry Christmas! Joey
