The boards that were laying in the trunk in my KR have "FP" stamped into the corner on the grey side. Too fragile to try and install.

Friend who was selling his 68 KR with the 69 engine had a bid reduced by 10% when he disclosed the issue to the buyer. Its on its way to Germany. Less then a week to sell.

A friend wants to sell his KR with a 69 CJ engine and he thinks he could get $200k for it. Maybe he will. :-\

My $.02. I never had this problem until converting my 67 and 68 390 cars over to Pertronix II. And it would happen during prolonged cranking like heat soak. I replaced one solenoid with a C7 from Green sales and continued to have the issue. A call to Pertronix said to add a diode in the wire to the 'I' connection on the solenoid. Their comment was the Pertronix connection to +12 v can be feedback to the solenoid and keep it engaged. Put the diode in the 67 and problem never re-accured. But since after heat problem Pertronix coils I've gone back to the points and ol yellow top.

I finally found the Shelby accessories ad for the ram air.
Bob, Do you know if the hood scoop was a one off for this or was it used on any other Ford?

Dumb question:  How do the feds find out?

From an Oh BMV friend; the old title is looked at when received in Columbus and the new listed selling price is compared to any previous price on the title or after a certain year(mid 80s) a stored transaction. That data is supposed to be sent to the IRS with whatever address is on there for the seller. When I bought my GTA (76) the seller's name was misspelled on the title and he had moved to SC from Oh. Many years later I asked him about this and he never got anything from the gov. My take is the bmv does the 'best it can' on sending data on. ;) Think about how many car transfers happen everyday.

On the subject of intake gaskets has anyone used the Fel Pro steel laminate gaskets like 1247S3? An engine builder said they tend not to distort when tightening.

Maybe a concours condom too!!!!!!!!!!!

Steve

Machine dispensed (gas station) condom under 68 Cougar console. Horse track betting slips under back seat of Mustang. Gas station finds: ball bearings rolling around bottom of Cadillac door, metal can openers welded to bottom of Vega, numerous nuts laying in Cheby air cleaner, written in chalk on bottom of 70s Dodge - F... Dodge.

Do you have a auto parts store temp sender in the intake manifold? They can/usually read high.

1968 Shelby GT350/500/500KR / Re: tilt solenoid

I've had many 68s with tilt and all eventually have the no starting problem. The switch inside the vacuum housing fails open. Maybe was designed to fail that way. Tired to take that assembly apart once to see this switch but its riveted and I ended up ruining it. I would unplug the two connector plug from the switch and make a jumper to plug on. Problem would be that the engine will start with the wheel in the tilt-away position.

In 67 there was a different setup using a door jamb type switch that was accessible on the column if needed to be replaced. The 68 collapsible column must have forced the change.

69/70s - balanced and sleek look, going fast while standing still. AND doesn't look like a Mustang with addons. But I still like and enjoy the KR. ;D
