Jeff flew to LA to inspect a "tired" KR for me a few years back and it was totally worth the time and cost. He is a delight to work with and will answer any of your questions with ease. On top of that, he sent me a PHD level report on my car giving me the confidence to go through with the purchase.

Thanks Pete,

I have never seen a Tasca license plate frame, but was hoping that someone else had knowledge of them.

Wanted to Buy / Tasca Ford License plate frame photo

Not sure if this is the correct subforum.

I haven't had much luck finding an original Tasca Ford License plate holder so far for my 68KR.

So, I am now looking for a photo or news clipping that would show what an original license plate holder would have looked like so I can work on an accurate replica.

I would be awesome if anyone would share a photo.

Thanks  ;D

I know someone in LA who might be helpful?

What part of the state are you in?

The terminals look backwards on that one.

Good Observation

I have a Walmart MAXX START 'Group 34 800 CCA' in the KR. Fits right in the original battery tray. One of the solutions to the hot start issue.

Thanks

this one looks pretty good. Will the Autolite topper fit on it?   Is 800CCA enough power to always start a hot engine?

Looking thru the Internet, it looks like the Exide battery from Home depot may be discontinued. It is not available in any store within 100 miles of me. Ford batteries don't look like they will accommodate the fake Autolite top.

this Walmart battery fits the size correctly but is only 700CCA, which seems too low.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

Bob,

I just went through this on my 65 convertible.  I went with an Exide from Home Depot.  The biggest problem was finding a battery with recessed filler caps/vents.  The battery topper fits it well.  The other bonus is it has the correct "foot" to work with the 65/66 battery hold down.  There may be other options for the 68's.  I can't remember what I have in the 68.  I'll check it when I get a chance.

the Autolite battery for my KR is now 3 years old and showing signs of losing power.

What replacements would you suggest as I want to keep the concours look.

should I just replace the old Autolite with a new one? I have not heard great reviews of the Autolite overall and I think I have been lucky to have it last this long.

Is there a best high CCA battery that will accommodate the fake Autolite cover?

This sounds like something I would be interested in as my build sheet seems to be long lost.  I looked on his web site and can see no mention of it.  Can anyone add a link?

No not mine. My KR was parked on the grass between 2 other 68's I believe, one was black. The KR in the photo appears to have covers on the Lucas lights, mine does not.
