Thank you Bob, very helpful. I'm try to decide the extent of sound deadener based on the various differences I have seen. One question though, I have seen the spring cover bolts with the threads in the engine compartment and others, claiming to be unrestored, with threads inside the wheel well. Thoughts

Drivetrain, brakes, fuel system, exhaust and exterior are done. Working on electrical which is going more smoothly than I thought. Next up is to complete the engine bay, start-up, test drive then on to interior, side glass and convertible top. Hoping to be on the road in late Spring. Comments and constructive criticism are welcom!

1968 Shelby GT350/500/500KR / Wiring Harness Question
November 16, 2024, 02:27:06 PM
I'm installing a new Alloy Metal Products underdash harness in my'68. All the wiring and connectors match up to my original harness except for these two leads, which I can't identify in any of my wiring diagrams. Any ideas? Blue with black stripe and round terminals. Circuit breaker perhaps?

Found in spare parts box in my garage. Had no idea it was there...and so rare!

Looking for the one on the bottom.

Those look like early over the counter wheels with a flat seat/washer as opposed to the more popular tapered seat later wheels. The OEM flat lugs are very difficult to find in any condition. I purchased these on eBay and while not totally correct, they serve the purpose pretty well.

Nowhere! Wait, there's an abundance on Bat. Seriously, I truly appreciate the time you all spend in helping preserve these cars correctly.

Got it and thanks folks. I'm sure there is more to come that I can't find on a search.

Coralsnake, I meant the bolts that hold the center hood latch receiver to the radiator support.

Regarding the sill plate, I was reading in Greg Kolasa's Shelby Mustang Guide book which on page 150 indicates the "LA" plates were used on some early cars.

So 4spd stickers only on KR's?

1968 Shelby GT350/500/500KR / Restoration Questions
August 29, 2024, 04:20:43 PM
For my 68 convertible 3/20 build date:

1. The sill plates for my car, which appear to be original judging by the wear, patina and caulk on the underside, have "Shelby American Inc Los Angeles California" emblems. All the 68's I have seen just say "shelby automotive, inc". Is the former correct?
2. Was the bronze 4spd sticker on the console woodgrain standard for all cars? I have seen on some but not all.
3. Are the hood hold down bracket fasteners bright zinc or black phosphate? Are there 3 or 5?
