Very true.  And, unfortunately, some will use this video as a guide.  Especially, trying to install the gas cap after the taillight panel is on.

Totally agreed! i wonder if it would go away with the dry ice blasting method ...and then how parts will looks like when cleaned up if they do....

I think it would be hard to remove all traces without a total disassembly and the car on a rotisserie.  That is if the new owner wanted an original look.

Quote from: OldGuy on October 17, 2024, 08:04:57 PMIf it were mine, I would forget the port and polish and hydraulic camshaft. You can EASILY de value your engine by porting it. NOTHING sounds better than a solid lifter hipo. I don't consider a hydraulic camshaft an upgrade-especially to a hipo. It ain't a hipo unless it sounds like a hipo.

Amen to that.  When I drive up to my weekly gathering of hot rodders, they always remark on the unique sound of my solid lifter engine.  Nothing sounds like a hipo!

Not sure why assembly date or block date would be a problem.  I always thought the VIN was more critical to keep hidden.

If having the original block is important to you, then go ahead and buy it.  You do not have to rebuild it right away if you do not want to.  You could do an external detail and have it as a static display in your garage.  It will be available when you decide to sell the car.  The next caretaker can rebuild if they want.

Where these gaskets used all years(1965-1968), or 1965/66 only?

Great information! Now I am curious to see where the two boxes of plugs I have fall into this variant line.  It never ceases to amaze me how subtle changes occur through the years.

Congrats!  Hope you have many fun drives.

Much appreciated, thanks Brian.

Cool find.  It is a pleasant surprise to find one and in that good of condition.  I remember finding one page under the left side rear passenger carpet when I disassembled my '67 in 1987. That was the only page I found.
