Concours Talk / Re: 1966 Headlight question

I obtained a pair of TS etched bulbs from a ex fire department Econoline van. Even trade for a pair of new halogens installed. Maybe you could source from one of those southwestern salvage yards.

Bob, would a C90X Ford unit have any stampings or casting IDs on the bottom? I never examined one up close.

Appears to be a reproduction. The elongated intake ports should be 4 evenly spaced/sized apertures for a square bore carburetor. The firing order script looks too large nor does it have a s1ms ID. The lower lid is missing a breather port. Value?

I would say a repop. No date code or balancing weight.

Did someone suggest a possible fuel pressure issue? Put your eagle eyes on anything that got wet. Might want to inspect the half shaft boots, driveline, diff, trans, for intrusion.

A subtle mod. More like a restoration with an asterisk. And with no other deviations. But then If I had the money I would chase down a GT40 instead,( Not gold).

How many other original Cobra owners do you think poured over this car at length? A rare wealth of information in its current state. I can appreciate a perfect restoration but I think I would just maintain it as is. Besides, Im not a fan of this color and I would be tempted to a change with a restoration.

What happens on Groundhog Day? I drop by Scheels and pick up some ammo. A head count of 30+ of them landscape wrecking rats and counting.

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Re: Monte Carlo Bar
January 29, 2025, 06:07:33 PM
Yes, even the OEM bar is hard to align and needs some TLC to get it back in. My understanding was that a bent bar was being used because of the carb set up. So as a plan B the bar flat section could be welded up and resurfaced flat, then positioned on the inner fenders and marked for drilling from the underside with a sharpie. Centerpunch and drill 6 holes on the bar, test fit and then repaint. Does that sound OK? Im not suggesting any mods to the sheetmetal.

Why not just weld up the holes and rescribe new ones making a template. seems easier and probably cheaper.

I remember seeing a black KR vert at Mid Ohio SAAC concours 2016. Was that Bobs car by chance.

Case by case. Too Mary variables like originality, documentation, etc. It's a seven figure automobile so whether you pony up at Mecum or have it restored its probably going to be the same investment in the end. Now if you have the talent and shop to tackle it yourself then that's a plus. Otherwise its time and materials sans budget- not on a car like this.

The replacement PCM may need the as-built data uploaded via OBD 2 FORD software. Either that or the TPS is faulty or possible fuel pressure issue.

What is the end game for this car? A full restoration or something in between.
