1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Interior parts
December 27, 2023, 11:11:23 AM
Anyone have a set of door panels they are willing to sell, NOS or used in good shape?

Otherwise any opinions on what manufacturer or which parts supplier makes/carry a good set?
I've not done an interior for 20 years but back then manufacturers had fibreboard and plastic backed panels, some of the panels didn't have foam and were very stiff.

Also any opinions on the brushed aluminum for the door panels and dash?

Yes.   I'll dig them out and post pics.    Had 2 sets, one went on car.
Have one set left plus 5 steel wheels (11/66).

Kindly advise price for rims and caps. PM if you prefer

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Z VIN prefix
March 14, 2023, 06:03:13 PM
I'm not aware of the Z VIN prefix being on any paperwork for the 67's.

Do any of the states require the Z prefix on title documents?

Congrats on the sale Nate!

Ed's basement has provided me with many dreams over the years including SOHC and Boss 9 engines.

I bought the Super Mustang that's SOHC powered

Had it at a friends place and he decided to have a good laugh

Thats funny, if I had a nickel for every "if only..." BaT statement!

I love the numbers guys.... how about this one....what body work has been done to the car?   8)

portions of the floor pans
photos of the front and rear engine bay aprons aren't clear enough to tell if the spot welds are original or not.....or even there on the driver side

You didn't say if you currently have a original exhaust system like what was installed at the factory / exact duplicate to the factory like what Scott sells or a aftermarket replacement exhaust system that is in the same configuration as Ford ( two generic after market resonators and a generic aftermarket transverse. With that said the transverse muffler dramatically heats up the fuel in the gas tank which is not a good thing and can be a source of carb problem symptoms. If a aftermarket exhaust then I would not feel bad by taking out the transverse completely if it were my car . The aftermarket exhaust is already substantially different looking then "bone stock". Kind of like being a little pregnant . Ether you are or you aren't. With originality sensibilities in mind It doesn't make positive use of your time to quibble about replacing a portion of that aftermarket system with another after market part. If wanting to personalize the sound to your taste do what needs to be done without a transverse with a clear conscience is my perspective.

If you are driving the car Bob makes a very valid point about the transverse muffler heating up the fuel in the tank. Has anyone installed just the resonators or mufflers in place of the resonators and then had tailpipes routed to the aluminum collector? I'd be quite curious how a system set up like this would sound/perform compared to original.

Anyone done this and care to comment?

Jim's one helluva guy that has really enjoyed his cars.

Incredible custodian and collection.

Someone was recently telling me that many of the 'rare high dollar' cars raced at Goodwood are actually copies of the originals.  The driver owns the original which is safely stored away, while the copy gets thrashed out on the racetrack.  I called BS on that.  Am I wrong and this is a common practice?

Many of the cars are not the originals. Toolroom copies from Gelscoe and the likes are common.

There have been parade laps with original cars like 917's, well spaced out and sometimes with famous drivers that are past their prime but a huge draw to see them in cars they ran in period.

It's a different league, literally re writing what guys like Penske did, seeking the "unfair advantage".

If you want to see cars run hard. Goodwood is the place. It's not often you'll see valuable cars driven so hard they are literally broken in half.

George Huisman reimagined this body style as well

Doing the aluminum bits under the hood certainly helps with the handling

Dove makes a great all alloy engine but you'd give up the original bottom end

Tremec transmissions are wonderful......launch like a pro stock car and 2100 rpm at 70 mph.....I hope this has a Tremec
