Perfect reading for original paint!

If the sheet metal has more than 4 mil reading on the Elcometer it has most likely been repainted. Typical 69 Dearborn Paint was 2.0-3.5 mil. My 2021 truck is about 12.5 mil average. Hard to duplicate  60's paint using current products.

Ed, The Green 70 Mach 1 Jacky Jones has that you have looked at is a Dearborn car. That car may be the best unrestored 70 Mach 1 out there and it also has a gray heatshield.

  I have found the short gray C7ZB battery shields on or in the trunk of several 1970 Boss 302's with the standard 21/22 series batteries. Jeff's photo appears to support this also.

Most likely part # is C9AZ-3600-B5A ?

 I met Jim 43 years ago at a Northwoods SAAC event in Waukesha Wi. In 1985 Jim was best man at my wedding. We put over a 200,000 Miles on Jim's 1979 Blue E-350 and my Wells Cargo trailer traveling the country buying Obsolete Ford parts from over 3,000 Ford Dealers. We were both hooked on the pursuit of original Ford parts and the thrill of the hunt. Jim liked 65-66 , I liked 69-70, we sold the rest to fund our projects. My kids referred to Jim as mean Jim when they were young and Jim loved the nickname. Jim was like a favorite uncle to all my kids over the years. In 2016 I was asked to be head judge of SAAC. My reply was only if Jim Cowles would take the Administrator position.  RIP Jim

69 Mustang W/O tachometer

Bill, Tire rack is mistaken as Goodyear F60X15 Polyglas GT dated 1969 have the load rating on sidewall.

I wasn't real happy with my hose set that I ordered from Marti the ink seems to be smudged and a hose is kind of got a ribbed finish, and the pictures I've seen of other peoples cars the hose is smooth and the print is clear & not smudged because of the ribs, I ordered these ones directly from Marti  and then I ordered another set from another source and they were both exactly the same.

The hose should have texture as pictured.

Pete, I agree with you and Charles. Where do you draw the line though? Should cars with no orange peel in the paint have Paint OK inspection stamps or stickers? Should obvious reproduction parts even have replicated engineering numbers such as belts, hoses, cables or color color codes applied to reproduction parts. Can of worms for 95% of all restorations.

292-V8  Number 4 wire is too short for even a 289. They make good coil wires if they have good date codes.

Richie, I believe in 1968-69 in North Carolina if you bought a new car and traded in a used car the plates transferred to the new car. In Georgia it was just the opposite the plates stayed with the old  car. The registration changed but not the plates. It appears in some states the new vehicle did have plates when it left the dealership.
