Hi Dynomax,
I happen to be working on my 65 Fastback and this part of my car is wide open, so I took the opportunity for some photos and measurements. I don't think it would be too hard to fabricate this bracket. I'd tackle this with a piece of 11-gauge steel, a jigsaw, vice, drill, ball peen hammer and some files to smooth it out.

The floor area where the bracket is welded slopes back from level at 8-degrees. The wall behind slopes back at 19 degrees. I created a 3-view dimension drawing for the passenger side bracket. The driver side is the reverse.

I suspect it would be pretty easy to find someone who can weld a bit better than was done on my car.

I don't know if you will find this useful, but it kept me entertained for an hour or so. Smooth roads!

Your effort to help is a excellent example of what this forum is all about. Good karma to you.  ;D

A BIG +1

Thanks for the great response.  ;D It made for great reading.
It is the type of reply that demonstrates the quality and quantity of knowledge that resides within the SAAC forum members. An excellent teaching moment. Based on the reply times, you must be one fast thinker and typist.  :D
And pics was just the icing on the "cake"

Wedgeman;
thanks  :) I have been working in Seattle since the end of august and really like the sunny days and relatively mild temperatures. A lot different from the constant rain and wind I was told to pack for and expect.  I have got to admit its a friendly city. Seems like Subarus are the choice of the under 30 crowd.   ;)

Nothing like the sound of a GT350 289 with side exiting exhaust. Anyone know where Ep (episode ?) 1 & 2 are?

My condolences to his family. Sounds like he was a very talented person and Shelby gearhead.
I used to live in El Segundo and saw a similar sign a few blocks from Main St. I think it was the same place. I never stopped as I drove by to work.

Love these vintage videos where the cars are speeding on a tires with a contact patch of a dollar bill and 10" of clearance under the chassis.  thanks for posting.

You might be the spark that lights this young guys enthusiasm for everything automotive. Most of all our GT350's. Maybe you can get him to join SAAC   ;D  Guys his age in our club maybe rarer than finding an NOS date code correct Blue Dot.  ;)
