SAAC Forum Discussion Area / Tulsa NOT Cancelled!
May 21, 2020, 10:21:53 PM
I've had several calls and texts from people asking if the Mid-America Ford & Shelby Nationals have been cancelled. NO, the event is NOT cancelled. The hotel has been contacted and made aware of there mistake in the 3rd party reservations telling some guests that the show was cancelled. There is no concours event for this year. For me this means it's time to get out the race car and hit the drag strip. Look forward to seeing you all in Tulsa!

Well, we have now taken a thread that about finding the one and only Little Red into an argument about a roll bar. So much negative in this hobby anymore. Can't we be excited about this and all come to an agreement that we don't know all the answers? Some of this takes the fun out of it.

Thanks Vinny. That would be an interesting car. 102338 Red fastback prototype, brochure car??? was also given to a Goodyear executive after it was no longer useful at Shelby Automotive. The story we were told was that he let his daughter drive it to college. We found the car in Ohio.

The Black Convert 69 prototype/engineering car we restored for Tony King had cougar power windows. When we were researching this we found that there was a regular production fastback that also received the power window setup originally. I believe the story was it went to an executive at Ford. Vinny will remember.

Pete maybe more like 3 or 4 or maybe 5 or 6.....Doesn't matter now. What matters is Little Red is no longer lost. Great day for the car world. Glad I was a part of it.

You guys know how hard its been not talking about this since March? I have had to call Pete several times and threaten to have Fuller shoot a missile at him if he didn't hush. Glad its finally out so I can relax, well at least relax about trying to keep it quiet. Now we have to start the work part. The response has been great so far. Over 400K likes on the Facebook page and we've already received 5 new photos. The media and PR team from Barrett Jackson has done an amazing job. I will share with Pete and he can post as soon as I get the ok from Scottsdale. Going to be a fun journey bringing these 2 special coupes back to life.

Congratulations Don. It's a great car with great original parts. It took an army, and a lot of patients to make it happen. Hope you and Lee enjoy it for years to come.

The Hornet's IRS is being remade by Duane Carling. I spent some time talking with Duane and he assures me that he has the original Klaus Arning design for the IRS that would have been used in the Hornet. As far as current project photos, we are limited to what we can share at this time. The car has been professionally photgraphed, videoed and documented from the time it rolled into the shop. There will be several articles released soon about the entire build. There will be specifc detailed articles about the engine and the Conelec EFI, the paint and body and also the IRS. The car will be unveiled at the MCACN show in November. So make plans to be there and check it out. I can say for sure this will not be a trailer queen. Craig dirves his cars hard... He took me for a ride a few weeks ago in a SCJ convert that that I won't soon forget.

Pete, there are only 3 of the 4 pre production prototypes that have been found. The black convert, the black/red fastback and the gulfstream fastback that was used as 4 wheel disc brake test car. There were also 2 pilot cars in 69. Those 2 cars are accounted for.

I have a red 70 GT500 auto ac car that is in very original condition. It had 1 repaint back in the early 70's due to a minor bump in the right rear qt panel. email me if you are looking for a good original car. jason@billupsclassiccars.com

Thinner or enamel reducer on a rag on a woven mesh harness? Let me know how that works out. I'd say your going to have to order on more harness from Pete.

Richstang, It looks like the deck lid and end caps are still Mustang and not Shelby as well. Maybe the car wasn't finished being converted yet? I have some notes somewhere about the roll bar completion dates. 2338 and 2339 both have very crude built roll bars. maybe the roll bars were not done yet so they didn't bother taking the interior out to install the qt scoops because they would have to repeat the same process again to install the roll bar. just a thought. Maybe someone can find the original print of this photo so we could blow it up and try to find more details.
