Shawn,

I had an in-depth conversation with Phil Schmidt before I ordered a set of 5 (4+1 spare) of his PSE 1 piece Trans Am wheels in 15x8. Phil's recommendation was with a 4 3/8" back spacing as that's what he was running on his 65 GT350 SFM5020.
Unfortunately Phil Schmidt Engineering is no longer as are his wheels. I was going to point you to Vintage Engineering in Redwood City CA, but you found him already.
I'm running the PSE 15x8 with a 4 3/8" back spacing. Just the tops of my fenders have been rolled. I've run and fitted 600-15's in the front and 700-15's rears in the past. On the street now I run 225x60-15 (f) and 235x60-15 (r). I can squeeze in 245x60-15 rears just fine and will go that route on the next round of tires.
On my PSE rims my only special request was the fill valve holes, I requested them on the drop walls and not in between the spokes. This is what it looks like.

Cheers

Quote from: DC-DD on November 04, 2024, 10:47:04 AMI believe there was a topic on this awhile back .
So I have a set with blue dots on them.
What i want is another set for some street tires .
For the front I will stick with the standard size.
However for the rear I want a bit wider as they can make other sizes.
So the question is anybody done 8 inch ? Or larger. Any issues with clearance with
Wellwell?
Possibly change backside offset?

Dominic

Hey Dominic,

Earl here (NorCal SAAC). It's been a real long time since SAAC 35. I'm now up in Northern NY (mostly) these days. I keep threatening Dan R. I'd show up at one of his meetings down in the PA area.
Anyway, I special ordered a set of PSE (Phil Schmidt) 5 of his 1 piece TA wheels way back when.
Phil recommended the same 15x8 with a 4 3/8" back spacing which I did. He ran the same exact rim on all four corners on his 65 if I remember without having to touch the lips.
He mentioned the only concern was the front corner of the front fender may catch depending on how much the car is lowered. He pointed out the 4 3/8" unlike the AR (American Racing) 15x8 with a 4.5" BS Torque Thrush D's that will contact the upper ball joint. Most after market upper A arms have the corrected upper ball joint angle (Open Tracker, Cobra Auto. etc).
The only difference with the 15x8's I ordered was I wanted the fill valves on the drop wall not in between the spokes.
As Bob G had mentioned a conversation with Craig Conley is your avenue. Typically a conversation that Craig doesn't openly advertise.
My thoughts are considering another a set of 15x8 w/4 3/8" or 15x7's w/4 1/4" back spaced 65 Cragar styled rims through Craig.

Quote from: TA Coupe on October 22, 2024, 01:14:20 AMDelta Bay Mustang is now North Bay Mustang. Tom moved there about a year and a half ago. Sucker didn't even say anything and I live about 2mi from where the shop was.

Roy,

You know, I vaguely remember he was moving. (Old age on my part). His old location in Brentwood was completely surrounded by modern housing developments last time I was there, no longer farming/orchards/open land Im sure he got a pretty penny for it. If that's what Tom and Zee (wife) decided.
As for his new location up in Petaluma is a short drive from SAAC 50/Sonoma Int'l aka Sears Point
Hwy12 > 37 > Lakeville hwy116 good source if parts are needed during SAAC 50. Or just a fun drive.

Try Tom Cruz at Delta Bay Mustang in Brentwood Ca. He supplied a number of vendors at one time.

I run a Locker in my car, on the street. It engages and disengages. It makes a big bang of a noise. I know what it is. So what?
What's the issue? If you're expecting or wanting a quiet pleasure drive, drive something else.

Thanks for posting the additional photos. Especially the view from the rear showing a better profile of the rear flares and the dash. Those two (for me) confirm in my mind what I vividly remember about 5S465. Also the slender Asian guy in two of the photos looks like Tim, black hair, light shirt and dark trousers in front of the car.
I'm actually heading to the SF Bay Area later this month again. I'll show them to Tim and see if he recognizes himself. (I would be able to if someone showed me a pic of myself even if it was 47 years ago).
Anyway, the last time I meet with Tim was 2 years ago (time flies). Way back when in the mid 70's he was an art student at CCAC (California College of Arts & Crafts) he drove 5S465. He showed me a proposed SAAC membership certificate he sent to Rick Kopec (Rick rejected it) he told me.
If anyone would remember Rick Kopec would (mind of a steel trap). I don't know if he showed it to Howard Pardee or Ken Eber. If anybody saw it, it would have been those three.
I took a pic of it in Tim's album he showed me. See pic

Parts For Sale / Re: American Safety Seat Belt
March 16, 2024, 08:40:54 PM
Hello All,

Not trying to hijack this thread. I have a pair of these American Safety lap belts with the complete labels and end clips but no mounting eyelets. (*edited for requests on prior note). The pic of the OP's tag (damaged) is identical to the pair I have (see attached) interestingly enough it reads IMPACT on the other side.

Cheers,

Wanted to Buy / Re: Cobra air cleaner lid

Hello Mike and Bob G,

I went digging around my shop and came across this Cobra Lid and base. Bob mentioned sand cast. I looked at what I have. (I thought it was/is a reproduction. Still might be). Does this look sand cast?
If you want it $75.00 plus shipping. If you tell me it's the real deal then the price jumps to $750.00 lol. Just kidding
$75.00 it's yours.

Shelby American Racing / Re: Group II Mustang - Race

No, there are no tags on the Group I & II notchbacks. There is detailed information on these cars in the SAAC Registry 2011 Edition 1965-1966-1967 pages 1234 to 1250.
Answering the OP's original question of how many 1966 Group II notchbacks were built. 16
