I nervously jump in on this thread. Awesome find, with some of the pointers here the path to "restore" is probably more apparent. Lots of good info that is just waiting to be tapped to get that car looking even better. That you lowered pictures is a mastery I have yet to consistently acquire.

On that note, a pal of mine also found a 68 GT500 KR same color and 4 speed numbers matching from front to back including the carb...literally a barn find stored away.

Funny thing was when he messaged me with his find my immediate response was for him to contact the Coralsnake ASAP and proceed very carefully relying on Pete's knowledge. Not sure if he did that yet.

Now I don't know Pete well but I did need some advice on perfecting a 69 project and he was very good at helping me correct some of the items on the car even if it was just placement of bolts and color marking coordination.

So, very cool find. Awesome knowledge here and really helps to focus one's efforts so you don't have to guess what is most correct and waste time and money.

Probably even a few of those rare parts needed here to get that project going. In my short few years in this business those parts are getting rarer. What will be impossible to replace are the experts here when they are gone. Unless they passed on the knowledge to the family it will be gone forever.

So a little tribute to all the Shelby folks here I guess. From barn finder to Shelby Quality Restoration Minders.

I'm just getting old I guess.

Sounds like an awesome guy. Just do it. What a blast it will be for him and a great memory for you for many years to come.

I just checked the tie rod orientation on the driver's side and it is just as you described Bob.

A very good detail to be aware of and easy to miss.

I can't seem to get pics up anymore but your description was right on.

The ratio I meant was for the rear axle gear set. I just checked the Marti again and it is a 3.00 ratio.

I had a "Sometimers" moment :)

The Wide ratio with the 3:00 is very nice to drive.

If the car is going Stateside you should be able to get it shipped for about $2500. The great folks at LMC will be able to help you out with all of those details.

As for the transmission question about wide or close ratio transmissions. The 70 GT 350 I drove cane with AC came with a wide ratio transmission and a 3.05 rear axle for fuel economy. It really is a nice setup to drive with the power steering and brakes. Good power and easy and light on the controls.

Of course I am comparing it to the drag pack, SCJ with manual steering and close ratio transmission and 3:91. A fun beast but not as light feeling on the controls in comparison. Cleaning the rubber off of the rear quarters is time consuming.

If originally isn't a worry.

Could you place a couple of Supertrap discs in the existing exhaust system so you could retain the "look" yet tone it down a bit? Not sure if they make any that would fit.

The Performance would be the same.

Not trying to get in a slinging match,

Did I miss something with the eBay car or is it a Dynacorn rebodied car with VIN numbers cut out of the old car and welded into the new with pieces transferred over?

Replacing a fender or a trunk lid would be fine if most of the original car is there. I could think of better investments for $159,000 then a full Dynacorn car.

I would pay $159,000 for the black one in the vintage add though.
