CSX 2000 Series / Re: Mk2 Cobra engine

The engine number was stamped on the Shelby serial number tag on at least some 289 Cobras.

The battery has been relisted at a lower reserve based on the expert opinions of several folks. Thanks for your feedback.

I have many original Cobra and 60's vintage Ford parts that I am in the process of "deaccessioning", as the museums say. Will vendors be at SAAC-49 and, if so, can I get a site?

This set of original white wall Goodyear Power Cushion tires are in excellent condition, one NOS and the other three showing very minimal wear to the outside treads. They are mounted on like new Dunlop chrome wire wheels from the Motor Wheel Service in England. The model is the XW5726 wheel, the current successor to the XA464 chrome wire wheels that originally came on 289 Cobras.
These are the ultimate tires for Concours judging. I assembled this set over years of looking and won the Best of Class (Cobra) at the 2015 French Lick Concours where Shelby was the featured mark, beating a Platinum SAAC 289 Cobra by 1/2 a point, likely due to this set of wheels and tires.
They are not suitable for regular driving, being 58 years old and due to being bias ply tires to boot!
I no longer Concours my car, preferring to drive it regularly.
This size Power Cushion tire is not reproduced. $3500 OBO

SAAC-49 / Re: Announcing SAAC-49

Are vendor spaces available?
I have parts and literature I would like to sell.

Would a semigloss polyurethane bring the surface back to close to original appearance, I wonder? The "Caution" raised words could easily be painted yellow and the crack could be filled in, I think, so it isn't noticeable. Are the dimensions of the 22F the same as the 24F? Did that vary by year?

I had Dan make this toploader for my original 289 Cobra because the original T10 jumped out of 2nd gear despite several attempts to correct the problem. The transmission comes with a Dan Williams custom shifter for a 289 Cobra, based on the Hurst Competition Plus shifter with hardened rods. The shifter is already installed. The shift handle, boot and trim ring are not included.
The transmission has only a few thousand miles of use. I have reinstalled the T10 transmission in my Cobra so I no longer need this transmission.
It has a 1 1/16" diameter input shaft.
It has a 28 tooth second gear which indicates a close ratio gear set.
Toploader 4 speed - Close

1st   2nd   3rd   4th
Ratio   2.32   1.69   1.29   1.00
Tooth Count   32   28   25   23
Counter Gear Tooth Count   15   18   21   25

The body casting is #C4AR-7006-A
This is the narrow body 1964 4 hole maincase with the small O.D. bearing retainer. This 1964 Toploader body
was used in 1965 and 1966 427 Galaxies when paired with close ratio gears.
This early style maincase was also used on many early Tiger, Fairlane, 1964 1/2 Mustang, Cobra , Galaxie applications with 5 bolt 260 -289 engines.

The tail casting is #C4AR-7A040  A
1964-67 Galaxie 289, 390 and works in the 289 Cobra instead of the T10 used originally.
17" length, 28 spline
I do not know the spline number since you have to take the transmission apart to see that.
There are 3 different lengths of Toploader tailhousings: " 14", 15 1/2" and 17". This one is 17" long.

The overall length of this transmission is 27".
Make sure this will fit your application.
$2000 OBO. pickup in Greensboro, NC or you pay crating and shipping or it may be possible to deliver to SAAC-49.

This battery is correct for 1967 Shelby GT350's and GT500's with A/C and/or Thermactor emission, based on my research. Look for "Original factory assembly line 1967 Shelby GT 350/GT500 Autolite 24F battery".
Could this be used in the Concours, even if it is non-functional?

Thanks. I didn't realize they posted that way!

The Cougar II has an early experimental 260 engine, very likely the original engine that came in CSX 2008 upon which the Cougar II is built.
I examined the Cougar II and it doesn't appear that it ever ran after being converted from CSX 2008. This is based on the fact that the exhaust system was never connected to the tail pipes and there are no mufflers. See the attached photo of the tail pipes.  There are 363 miles on the original speedometer/odometer so someone did a little cruising before it was converted to the Cougar II.

The Bordinat Cobra is built on the chassis of CSX 3001. It has a 6 bolt 289 engine with a very unusual exhaust system layout. The exhaust exits the engine toward the front of the car and then the exhaust pipes course down INTO the frame rails! See the attached photo.
They exit the frame rails toward the rear of the car and are connected to the tail pipes. This car did run because there is exhaust soot on the rear valence adjacent to the exhaust tips.
