This topic may have been discussed before but I noticed on the 65 Shelby being auctioned on Bring a Trailer that the battery posts are on the trunk side of the battery. I've got the May 65 Road and Track magazine which features Carroll Shelby and his cars. On page 53 there is a picture of the trunk battery and the posts for the battery are on the quarter panel side. Which is correct?

The intake manifold on my 65 GT350 has gotten stained from gas leaking from carb. It seems as if there was a clear coat of some kind on the intake. I tried some aluminum cleaner but to no avail. I hate to sandblast but if someone has run across this, I would like some advice.  Rick

Got to close to parking stop and damaged the front spoiler on my 2014 GT 350. Called Shelby American and was told the spoiler is unique to the GT 350 and am waiting to hear back from them if they have any in stock. Wondering if anyone else has done this to their 2013-2014 GT 350 and what you did to remedy the problem. Rick

I appreciate all the replies. As I stated before my car does not have the original engine. The engine in my car is #5R09K244XXX which is different than my car and is date coded June of 1965. My car was probably built in April. The E5 balancer that I have is right for my engine but not right for my car. Since all HiPos have serial numbers it is immediately evident when a car doesn't have its original engine. Thus, should engine parts be date coded to the engine or to the car?

Thank you for your replies. I should have explained that I bought my car in 1980 and it didn't have the original engine.  I found a serial numbered HiPo engine that was very close to the date of my car. I thought this was the best I could do without the original engine. I really don't know the exact date that my car was built but I think it arrived at Shelby in May of 1965. This balancer was on that engine. It's taken a long time but I finished the restoration a few years ago and have been running that balancer on my engine. I've located another balancer which I have attached some pictures and is date coded 5E. I believe that date is May 1965 which is very close to the date of my car. I guess I am wondering if I should put the 5E balancer on instead.

Does that mean this balancer is correct for an R model?

Wondering if someone can tell me if this harmonic balancer would be correct for my 1965 Shelby GT 350. It has Ford logo and number C5OE A but it has degree marks all the way around the balancer. Rick

6S477 would you look at the ends of your cables. Are they cut diagonally or at an angle. And if they were soldered.

Bob,    In your comment "is found in" my reply would be that you only have my word that I took it off my car. I don't have a picture of the cable when it was on the car. As far as how it was looped you can see in the deformity of the cable that one end of the cable had passed through the eyebolt attached to the body and the other end went around the axle. As far as the copper sleeve, it is clearly coper and doesn't appear to be plated.   I can't claim that the coper sleeve is original because I haven't owned the car from new. Maybe the originals broke and someone replaced the original cables and used copper sleeve. To me that is highly unlikely. I bought my car in March of 1980 and the car would have been 15 years old. The cables condition indicates to me that it would be about 15 years old which could make it original to the car. I just finished restoration of my car after 38 years and I am putting new cables on the car. I intend to use copper ferrules and will keep the old one to show anyone if they question my choice.  Rick

I contacted Bo about my cable that started this thread. My car is 5S256. I will try to attach some pictures of the cable I took off my car almost 40 years ago. The cable is 301/2 inches long and is 1/8 inches in diameter. The ferrule is clearly copper. What is interesting is the ends of the cable are cut at an angle and soldered. Makes it a lot easier to install in the ferrule. You can see at the top of the cable is bent from going through the eye bolt and the bottom of the cable is curved from going around the axle. Also, the washer is smaller than the reproduction cable kit. Rick
