1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Re: Preferred Oil Pan Gasket

Just out of curiosity, exactly what pan gaskets did come originally on a 66 Shelby? Were the aluminum cobra oil pans installed at SA or San Jose?
Thanks

Wow, Wow, Wow
I was shocked to see the notice from BAT that the 5 65/66 "restored" Cragers had sold for the sum of $10,250.
Paradise Wheels is currently showing them on their site for $850. each including center caps. What am I missing here??

I also ordered one and received it yesterday. I was very disappointed when I opened the box and noticed right away that the insulator was black not red. I stopped there and contacted Dennis Carpenter. The lady who helped me was very nice and offered to refund the entire purchase, including what they charged me for shipping. I explained to her that, their picture on the website clearly shows the red insulator. She said they are changing the photograph on the website immediately and that she was very sorry. She took the time to check with someone and apparently they have switched vendors who changed the appearance. In spite of the problem, I was very impressed with the customer service. Oh well, hopefully a NOS unit will cross my path one day.
Great job on the testing Royce!

I have ordered one of the Dennis Carpenter units. If it looks and functions properly I will let the group know.

Thanks Bob, have you seen the water temp sensors that Dennis Carpenter makes with the red insulator? Thoughts?

I see that the unit that Dave shows in the pictures has the cursive Ford type F along with the 260 stamp in it. Is that correct OE 65/66 289 hipo style or what they would've used from SA? Sounds like the main difference is the lack of red on the insulator, correct?
Thanks

Are these filters correct for an early post carryover Car?

Hello Mike, I live in Albuquerque and am a 40 year New Mexico car dealer. I am also a proud 66 GT 350 owner. If I can be of any help with getting your car properly registered please let me know. I would be happy to make a really good recommendation on an out-of-state vin inspector and the best title company in NM.  Message me if I can help. Thanks, Karl
I hope I get to see your car out and about some day soon.

Thanks Jeff, very helpful. One more question. Did the carryover cars which were actually 65s have a 66 grill installed at SA?

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Brake scoops painted?
September 13, 2023, 09:23:29 AM
A question came up recently concerning painting the inside of the brake scoops black on early 66 GT350s, specifically 281 and even back through the carry over cars. I realized now I'm not sure if they painted the early 66 scoop openings black or not. Any thoughts, documentation, etc.?
Thanks

I'm about ready to assemble the engine for 6S281. My question concerns intake manifold gaskets. I have the attached list that came from Jeff Spiegel which has been very handy. They are described in Jeff's list as "white/off white, may have top and bottom markings". Has anyone found a particular intake gasket that would be the white/off-white? Are there any NOS assembly line intake gaskets available out there? Thoughts?
Thanks very much
