I'm not good at identifying Mustang model years, but I spotted this plate on a nearby neighbor's late model car.  I didn't bother taking a picture since I don't know how to post them.  Anyway, it's BETTERL8

I still have a Shelby parts catalog I purchased in the late '60s.  I purchased parts from the two locations listed below until first the El Segundo shop closed and then later the Gardena one also closed.  The catalog included some illustrations, photos and a lengthy parts/price list.

I had a brief encounter with Lew Spenser back when he owned a Morgan/Sunbeam dealership in So Cal.  I believe it was sometime in 1963.  A friend of mine had ordered a Sunbeam Alpine from Spenser and needed transportation to the dealership from our location in the San Fernando Valley.  I agreed to drive with him in his MG-TD.  Then to drive his MG back to the valley while he drove his new Alpine back.  Actually we both had TDs at the time and we were both hot to "move up" in our sports car ownerships.

Anyway, Spenser offered to give us a tour of the onsite garage where he kept his Morgan +4 race car.  What I really recall about the Morgan was how pristine it was.  Needless to say, both my friend and I became big time fans of Spenser and this Morgan.  We went to most of the local races he drove in and because my friend's mom live in Carmel even his Laguna Seca races.  And of course we continued our fandom when he moved on to racing Cobras.

Definitely found memories.

Or maybe a deal on a Boeing 737 Max.  They're probably selling really cheap now.

One other factor that I suspect made life easier for the Nygaards and most likely Gurney and other taller competition drivers were the comp seats.  The stock street were fairly thick and cushiony while the comps were thin and without cushioning.

Well, there was the Nygaard mod, which I took advantage on my 289 Cobra.  John and Paul Nygaard were the original co-owners of CSX2577, which they regularly raced until the late '60s, mostly in Arizona.   They were both well over 6' tall.  Their fix was to take a BFH and whack in the rear fender behind the driver's seat.  This allowed the seat to move back a few more inches and added a bit more leg room.
