Hello SAAC friends,
This piece is being offered to benefit a fantastic kids 501(C) non profit automotive and racing foundation.

Just in time for Christmas!

Our partner www.youthracersofamerica.com is proud to offer:
Ken Miles' "Flying Mustang" 1965 Shelby GT350R.

GT350R 5R002 was introduced to the public on January 27, 1965, at California's Riverside International Raceway. Two weeks later, with Miles at the wheel, it became the first Shelby to win a race when it finished first at Green Valley Raceway near Dallas. The car scored more than 10 first-place B-Production finishes during the 1965 SCCA season alone, driven extensively by Ken Miles, Bob Bondurant, Chuck Cantwell, Peter Brock, and Jerry Titus."

"Colin Comer, author of The Complete Book of Shelby Automobiles: Cobras, Mustangs and Super Snakes, says the 5R002, the GT350R prototype, has historical significance that puts it at the top of the Mustang podium. It is the first of 36 that were campaigned on the track.

"Of the important Mustangs, 5R002 in my opinion is the most significant in terms of its contribution to automotive history," Comer says. "It's the one that helped Shelby give the Mustang the performance image it retains to this day, as well as turned Shelby American into a bona fide manufacturer.

This item measures 15 x 12, comes framed from the artist with certificate of authenticity and licensed by Shelby American.

"A must for any Ford, Shelby or automotive enthusiast with ALL proceeds going directly to Youth Racers of America." (EIN: 83-3578756)

Rich,
Thanks for the additional info. Other than passing knowledge of the '92's I admit that it was very educational to learn more about these cars. Certainly any undertaking such as this requires many individuals to make it happen.  I appreciate the opportunity to get to know them better as well as those who played such an integral part in their development.

Don't see a way to contact you. I bought my Hertz in 1967, and still have it. It's a driver, not a trailer queen. Ron

Ron,
Email me: jp@jpemerson.com  Cars don't have to be trailer queens.

Vern,
Care to chime in?

JP

What is there for him to chime in about? Both cars are captioned as being his first Shelby. I'm merely pointing out an editing error. Nothing more nothing less.
I'm sure it meant to say something like "first car" and "first 65."
But it doesn't
No worries

I did understand your reference. My reply was simply for clarification only since I don!t know if the error was on my part or in the edit. My apologies to both in either case for the error.
**Hangs head in epic first post failure**

Hello friends,
I am currently looking for owners and cars to feature for magazine articles. I have corresponded with several of you previously with great appreciation. If you are interested in sharing your story in Ford Muscle magazine (or others) please contact me @ jp@jpemerson.com .

I have included a few previous articles from other SAAC members below for reference or you can visit jpemerson.com for additional examples.

Cars do not need to be perfect examples and I am open to all brands provided they are vintage.

Thanks for your time.
