I definitely recommend Ken Costella - he knows his stuff, and especially Shelby Mustangs.   I used to have him appraise all of my collector cars when I lived in Michigan.  Always wise to keep current photos and appraisal on file with your insurance company.

Whoever told you guys that the Bordinat Cobra and Cougar II were never running cars doesn't know what he is talking about.   The cockpit dimensions were not changed, the bodywork on both cars was extended ahead of the radiator and behind the rear wheels.   Both of these cars ran back in the sixties.
I spent many hours working on them myself back in 2003, preparing to reveal then together for the first time ever at SAAC 29.   I talked to a lot of the people who built these cars, and even some that had driven them.   The engines were stripped of their cylinder heads and induction systems by Ford before they were donated to the Henry Ford Museum to make them non-functional.    We are so very fortunate that they decided to make them into push cars rather than crush them.   Dan Case very graciously offered some vintage Cobra parts to help restore the engines, and I volunteered to perform the installation, but the Detroit Historical Society was not interested in having the cars made into running vehicles.   They probably face fewer liability concerns if the cars cannot be driven.

I'll be there.   Told myself last year I wouldn't come back this year - not very many Retro T'Bird parts in the swapmeet  :(   ;D
But a Shelby friend from Ohio said he's never been, so we're going to meet up there, and then drive over to Hershey to see the AACA Museum (I've never been there before).   The AACA Museum has two special displays going on this summer - one of Mustangs, and one of Thunderbirds - gonna check it out!

Here are some of my pictures from SAAC 1.   I have many more, but it will take time for me to scan them and prepare to post (so much easier thses days with digital cameras).

Mike Shoen's Daytona Coupe, CSX2602

Mike offered to let me drive it

Gordon Gimball's Cobra that I missed out on (better that he got it and put it to good use)

Rick Bawden's Cobra

Royal Kreiger's Cobra

Mark Hefte's Cobra

Tomb of the Unknown Cobra

Legends in the parking lot

Tom Payne, Carroll Shelby, Al Dowd, Allen Grant

That's all for now...gotta fire up the scanner again

Some really interesting Shelby iron (and aluminum) at this year's Amelia Island Concours.   First unveiling of the long-lost Shelby Lone Star; first showing of the 2003 Cobra roadster prototype now owned by the Ford guy who made it happen; concours Cobras on display, and Barn Find Cobras in the Auctions.
