1968 GT500 GT500KR Ammeter Junction Box Location

I have noticed that the placement of the ammeter junction box varies on the subject cars with the placement 1) in front of the starter solenoid, and 2) in back of the starter solenoid (see pics).

Which location is correct?

If both locations are correct, why the variation ... model, convertible/coupe/fastback, plant?

Location varied by build date and probably the installer

All the 1968 Shelbys were built at the same plants

GT 350/500 went to firewall side. When starter delay added ( KR) it was moved to battery side
