Spring Clips that retain front molding pieces - where to buy?

Please let me know if you have a source for the spring clips that retain the chrome molding strips to the nose of a '68 Shelby.

What is the proper way to secure the spring clips to the fiberglass from behind? Did they use speed nuts or push- on retainers or??

In s few cases the studs were threaded and there was a nut on the back. A barrel nut insert is by far the most common. AMK products sells them. You should have their catalog if you are working on any Ford product as it lists part numbers and pictures

Branda has the stud clip that slides into the rear of the trim pieces.  They include a donut cushion which is not used by the factory, originally.

This is an old posting but I have the threades studs that use hex nuts on the nose moldings.

What are those called? I can't find a listing on them anywhere?

There is more then one type apparently? I just don't know what mine are called to do a search?

Mine don't come up at the usual places. These were on the car when I got it in '72.

I go online and have printed up every AMK fastener for my 68 and when my originals go out for plating the pics will go into the bags for quick reference when the fasteners(hundreds) come back. Here is one example. https://www.amkproducts.com/bulk-fasteners-products/?Product_ID=12589

Granted, this is really getting down into the weeds but I just need a few new ones of the picture that I posted.

I can't find the "term" that they identified by to in fact do a search. So far, nothing.

They do have the advantage of making it easier to remove those nose moldings without marking them up by needing to pry them off, so I want to stay with that. I hate those barrel clips. They have caused lots of issues over the 52 years that I have had this car.

I don't like the engineering solution they represent.

The S8MS-8A310-A ones that Pat shows in his photo are correct.  ADDITIONALLY, some S8Ms-8A311-A are used also, which are longer.  Refer to assembly manual.  The "11" longer version go in hard to locate areas, so fewer are used.

If you were to use the NOS ones that pat posted a pic of do they generally come with the sleeve nuts that mount in the fiberglass?

No, NOS do not.

Some repros have a donut cushion, which is not factory original, or service replacement.  I understand the use of the donut, but it is visible and not correct.

The post that commented on prying----please go to the rear and push the pin/stud out, rather than prying.

The fuseable link here are the fasteners. It is still possible to dent the moldings by "pushing them out". Not to mention, dislodging the barrel clips/clip in the process and chipping the paint.

It's a simple question. What is the technical term for the stud.

As far as what was original to this car? These threaded fasteners were.


As far as what was an original production part and service part, they were never always the same as far as Ford is concerned.
