Shelby's last hurrah at Ford in the 20th century. When Ford took over the assets of SA in mid 67 CS signed a contract to be a race team for Ford in the TransAm series - Shelby Racing Company. Ford allowed him to build the 68 cars using Kar Kraft specs and parts. In 1969 the cars were built at Kar Kraft and supplied by Ford. Ford also stepped up the build quality of of the crate engines CS was required to use. With only 1 win for Shelby (3 for Moore and lots of 2nds) in 69 Shelbys contract ended and the cars went to Bud Moore who won the championship in 1970. Ford and Chevy pulled out of factory sponsorship of TA at the end of 70. AMC stayed in with Penske running the show and won in 1971.
