I don't know the restorer, but give him credit for allowing video of work being done.  I'm guessing Shelby's are not his forte, but the one positive thing is I'm sure this has been a learning experience.  Each of us that have done restorations have gotten better with each car done.  I would have liked to have seen less power tools being used and more following the Ford shop manual for torque specs.

I understand from those that have talked to him in the context of this restoration prior to the beginning of it that he considers himself a competent Mustang restorer that doesn't need any help. He lives relatively close to Jerry which was the main reason for him getting the job so Jerry could more easily video document.

I noticed that in sequence (video) #12 they still haven't noticed the problem, as the cap is not in place.  I hope that when the error(s) are noticed they will let it be known in future videos.  I'll bet most of us who work on their own cars have similar stories to tell.

So for those experienced; Would it be best to install the fuel tank prior to filler neck and gas cap?  It's been so long that I have done any work in that area I can't remember.

Yes, the fuel tank needs to be in before the filler. It make life easier and its a good place to throw parts.

+1 so much easier with gas tank in first . With that said it can be done installing the gas tank after but why do it that way? It is a lot of hard work and hard to achieve angles with the risk of damage if done with the filler neck in.
