Dec 5th 2024. Just wanted to add to the comments I've heard from those that did go to this show and from those who didn't.                         $40.00 on-line of $45.00 at the door is "pushing it". Then add in the $15.00 for parking. This is what I am hearing.

Which is likely due to what the convention center is charging to rent the place.  I doubt the MCACN team is getting rich off the show.

Thats a bargain price for 500 + RARE cars u may never see again and 15 RARE engine displays, swap meet, and a live band and car celebrites people (including specialed) all inside a heated building within walking distance of hotels resturants etc so weather is never a factor.

Admission to SAAC last convention was $45.00 for 1 day ? SAAC-40 = $95.00 .

Or for very long - that's less than 1 minute per car if you spent 8 hours and did nothing else.

Since Covid all the hotels, convention centers, etc have increased prices. I think it's to make up for their loss of 2-3 years of revenue while their facility expenses continued. The new rates will become the norm and we'll never see a decrease - but possibly longer intervals between the increases.

With everything paid for so to speak I got a kidney stone attack early Thursday morning. A CAT scan revealed a stone not far from my bladder. No problem I thought as I'd pass it in no time . Well at a Hotel in Indiana I woke up 3 in the morning on Saturday puking in extreme pain. Finally got back to sleep at 7. Got up at 8:30. 45 minutes to Rosemont and as luck would have it our room at the Crown Plaza wasn't ready(even at 9-10 it usually is) and a first-we couldn't park in their lot until my room was ready! So parked at the outlet mall and walked over. In pain the whole time. I was wiped by early afternoon and the pain got worse so headed back and got our room. Saw a few people I knew at the show but got very little pics but the red 69 was Shelby's old car that Jim Cowles restored many years ago. I was hoping to go back later that night but the pain prevented it. As luck would have it I passed the stone near the time the show was ending so never went back. Had plans for the next 3 days so didn't go on Sunday. My friend Bill was there and shot a lot of pics so here you go:

WOW, two Saturdays ago I had two Kidney Stones.  Hit me hard at 3:05am and the pain kept growing.  Couldn't take the pain anymore so called an Ambulance to come get me. 4 Hours later I was on my way back home.  Worst pain of my life, Not fun.  It was my first time and I'm 63 so I fill lucky.

Sounds like you had a tough time. I enjoyed your buddy's pictures. Marty and Finley are in there too!

Gary; thanks for all the photos. I have stayed in Portage, IN & Merrillville, IN a couple times.
Last 3 years I do down & back in one long day. On the road by 5AM.  In 2022 took over 7 hours to
get home in the "lake effect" snow.  Arrived at 8:30AM this year & they were letting us in. My
favorite this time was the 135 Mustang.

Poor Ron: that 135 car has been owned for a long time by a retired Ford engineer. Nice guy with plenty of stories about that car.

Yes, I spent some time looking over the car & the documents with it. The owner was
out in the show somewhere.  His wife came up and spoke with me a few minutes. 
She said he retired from Ford in the 1990s.  I stopped back later and they were both absent.

He and his wife had that 135 at MCACN last year, also.  They enjoy meeting people and sharing stories about the car and his career with Ford.  Nice folks.

Good show, need more Shelby's and Fords in general. Thanks for the pictures, it's hard to take good pictures with all the people on Saturday.
