Help With Build Sheet Retrieval

I finally started work on my high school car purchased in 1975. It's all original. I should have retrieved the build sheet a long time ago. Any advice on getting it unstuck from the carpet and floor? Thanks.

Maybe a hairdryer on low heat might make it easier to remove.  That could make whatever is making it stick more pliable.  Just a guess.

Soapy warm water and a spray bottle. Spray the solution on, allow to soak in for 10 minutes, go back and do it again, and repeat until the build sheet starts to separate from the back of the carpet material. Same goes for anything stuck to the floor, take your time, be patient.

Once it is off, get yourself a large enough pan to fit the build sheet in, and some automotive dewaxer/degreaser (SEM 38374 prep solvent), or in which to soak them in to remove years of dirt and grime. Allow to dry on a window screen, repeat as needed until you can read it well.

You can also try prep solvent in a spray bottle before the warm soapy water

Take photos of it before, during and after in case the removal doesn't go well.

I would try a steamer before a heat gun.  Good luck!!!

have you looked behind the instrument cluster for a build sheet taped to the wiring harness?

Thanks for all the advice. I'll look behind the instrument cluster too. This is a1971 429 CJ Mach 1 so not sure if they were put there like 1968 Shelbys. I'll let yall know how it goes...

I found mine tucked into the seat springs, under the driver's seat, on a 70 Mach 1.

The harness taping is almost exclusively a NJ plant thing

I have owned about 100 Classic Mustangs (64.5-73) and most had the Sheet in the Seat Springs of the Rear Seat Bottom.

When I started to rebuild my 67 500 I pulled the seats and the old carpet. Under the carpet were some old pop rivets lying on the floor along with and old piece of paper that looked like an invoice or something. Threw it all in the trash. DAMN! How was I to know.

67 gt500 1551 I already have the Marti report. Spent pop rivets where they were installing the air ducts and rear panel. Too much of a hurry to clean up I suppose?
