The might have discovered/learned something about the car that they could not live with. Not like there is a lot of opportunity to fully check out a car at one of these auctions or sometimes they get caught up in the moment only to regret it later. Would not be the first buyer to be in this situation

Another possibility is that the new owner found something he wanted to own more than that car and didn't mind loosing a bit in order to get another thing that he might not get another opportunity to get.

All kinds of possible situations but at this point we're just guessing.

Back about 30 years ago...KR convertibles were regularly trading in the $350-400k range.

They are maybe half that now.

Contrary to many peoples perspective, prices dont just keep going up

Well with 16 69-70 shelbys at 1 auction toooo many to choose from and with 69-70 shelbys prices been soft in the last year mecum flooding the market will only hurt the market more. Why would they sell so many of the same type cars at one auction when they have so many other auctions thru out the year? If your wanting a 69-70 shelby FL mecum is the place to go buy one as i have  never see that many for sale in one place before and a good variety to choose from so now is the time to buy.

wow color is king.
had 3 very similar 70 gt350s went through today. pastel 115k gulfstream aqua 107k and silver jade 88k

I actually thought the silver jade was the nicest car and the pastel the worst, going off of video/pics, I was not there.

Just looked up blue 70 gt350 vert in registry says white interior white top color code E  but black interior black top so why would u change that as with the blue the white int and top would be rare and very pretty in my books. Auction prices often dont make sense as thats why u have to know the car and history and closely inspect the car BUT most important know what u are looking for. I get many people ask me about cars when i am at auctions and i look at undercarrages but watch people look at cars as they never crawl under the car just do a walk around. If a guy has a good car he is usually around the car representing it and answering ?s but many cars have nobody around them so how are u supposed to get any info about the car and the write ups on these cars dont tell u much about the cars history anymore as the auction companys often write up the info the way they want and back years ago the seller wrote up the info.

Because I don't know why do some of some of these cars travel from auction to auction? I read Muscle Machines magazine and the writer notes that this happens. I keep my vehicles for a long time. My last daily driver I put almost 250k miles on it before I decided it was time for a change.

Did some ever leave AO Smith with a 120 speedo?

Good catch Gary. If any did come with a 120 speedo it would have been a big mistake so it would be extremely unlikely and hard to prove it came that way . Most likely changed out by past owner. I have seen that done a few times when someone buys a complete dash cluster already rechromed and restored. Any of us that have done that ourselves knows what a pain that is and time it takes to restore one. The restorer probably thought it would save time and money. Especially at prevailing shop rates. The restorer didn't notice or didn't know . It makes one wonder what other mistakes will crop up. :o
