Chrome plating is extremely thin and is impossible to fill in anything like deep scratches or especially dimples on an air cleaner. That is why prep is so labor intensive. It isn't like paint where you can keep coating it and then sand and buff.

I think this dimple thing is just an issue that is going to be run into with rechroming.

The people who do the polishing GENERALLY are going to be numb to something like saving that detail or even might tell you that it can't be saved?


IF that detail is very valuable to you then the re-chroming process has just significantly reduced the value of the part but they really aren't visible when the wing nut is installed.
