Replace 67 GT500 Heater Core

The coolant is leaking on the passenger floorboard.  I have a new heater core and gaskets to replace just need some guidance. I have removed the glove box so far. Where do I need to drain the hoses? Any help is very much appreciated.

you need to disconnect them from the engine and drop the heater box out under the dash. Cutting them at the firewall and replacing is probably the easiest way

Start by reading the factory shop manual section on replacing the heater core. It gives fabulous step - by - step instructions.

Easy to do. Comes out in one piece. Complete rebuild kit available while you have it out.

If your car has air conditioning, it's a little bit more involved. +1 on using the shop manual.

Suggest attaching new heater hoses on the inlet/outlet stubs before reinstalling the assembly, note clamps on image posted in reply #3 above.

If your cardboard plenum is in good shape I would remove it first.
Those plenums are fragile and good ones and very difficult to source.
One good bump and rip.

All went well removing it. We drained and flushed the hoses. They were in excellent shape so not going to replace them. Installed the new gaskets only to find out I had the wrong heater core. New one is one the way. The job overall wasn't as bad as I thought it would be with two people tackling it. Thanks for all the tips.
