69 GT500 hood pin bracket

On my 69 GT500, the hood pin bracket has been painted and is rusty. What is the correct condition for this bracket, and how do I go about achieving the proper look?

I would start by glass bead blasting then prime and paint . Finished look is a semi gloss black.

Thanks Bob.  That's good news.  I thought that the brackets were raw steel in color.
