It defies comprehension that this labor rate was in our lifetimes!

"Low she sits on five spoke wheels
Small block eight so live she feels
There she's parked beside the curb
Engine revving to disturb
She's the princess from his past
Red paint gold stripes damned she's fast"

Always wondered about that place, never went there but seemed crazy even then!!

Steve McDonald Formally known as Mcdonas

When I first started at the dealer in 1969 the labor rate was $8.00. We were paid 50/50. Cost to overhaul a C4 was $65, FMX was $75, C6 was $95 or $115 for a Lincoln
We were told that we would probably lose 50% of our business when we went to $10 per flat rate hour.
Work kept at the same pace but we went a dollar amount per hour compensation and it slippped from 50/50 to 52/48, the 55/45, now it's close to 80/20 ( 80% to dealer, 20% to technician)
My oh my, how things have changed
Owned since 1971, NOW DRIVEN OVER 250,000 MILES, makes me smile every time I drive it and it makes me feel 21 again.😎

After I found a buyer to pay the asking price that Rich Rodeck had on his George Follmer Trans Am Mustang he worked on my car for $5 an hour for the last 200 hours or so. That was in the late 90's.

Mr. William Joel previously commented on the subject like this.

"You know the good ole days weren't
Always good
And tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems,

I'm keepin' the faith"

As far as Telstar goes, let's just say it this way, discussing Telstar's previous actions publicly could open you to a defamation lawsuit. Caution should prevail. 'nough said?  ;)

My recommendation to anyone would be to verify the original cars configuration with a Marti report and do not rely on what appear to be Ford original id tags.  ;)

I heard it's cheap to live in SD
But I'll bet they made it up on parts.

I'm going here for my XMAS shopping
