1969 Ammeter gauge wiring question

On the ammeter gauge + terminal, does that get the heavy single wire lead or the 3 wire connector lead attached?

I do not have that part of the wiring committed to memory however regardless I always test it before putting the insert back together to be on the safe side. It will work ether way without damage but if you have them wrong the gauge will read in the positive when you turn the headlights on. In that case reverse the wires.
