Did any other car than the 427 Cobra use the HEH-BY trans?

Found some pics of this online. Not mine.

I don't find it listed for any thing other then the 427 Cobra. Knowing Ford though there probably is another obscure application that it was sourced from? Nothing in print that I can find though.

Thanks. Would guess that a 427 Cobra did not have a VIN# on the transmisssion?

John

Cobra Ned

No, no VIN on the transmission.

In that photo, I would be just a little concerned someone added the "Y" to the ID code after the fact

I can see that, seems a little off and the top of the Y is pointed not flat.

I have asked for better pics of the tag. Would post when I get them.

I obviously dont know anything about this trans, but its interesting they painted the whole thing blue except the tag?

More pics. Opinions?

Yes, for sale. Not mine.

It now looks more so like the the "Y" has been added then not . Still hard to tell if the "Y" has been stamped and then scratched over for some reason or just a primitive "Y" scratched into place. At least that is the way I see it.

Maybe a Y stamped over a V?? Looks like outer legs are perfectly straight to me.

Does anyone have a pic of a similar tag from a known genuine Cobra?

I'll venture to guess there are a lot more 1966 Fairlane/Falcon 289 28 spline wide ratio 4 speeds (HEH BV) out there than 427 Cobra 4 speeds (HEH BY)? It's clear as day to me that is a Y stamped over a V in that photo. Also, what is that hole that appears to be tapped in the left side of the tail housing?
