Another solid hot rodder leaves us in a cloud of tire smoke and glory.  Sad to hear.

I know Jim a bit when I was on-staff at Popular Hot Rodding in the early/mid '80s. Even though Jim used to be the editor of arch-rival Hot Rod Magazine, he was always a nice guy to me, and to everyone else on our staff.  He was at Edelbrock all the time I knew him.

His Camaro is legendary, and was to Hot Rod what the yellow '57 Chevy "Project X" was to Popular Hot Rodding. That Camaro (a prototype given to Hot Rod many months before hitting dealerships) was super popular with the readers, and kept appearing in the magazine year after year.  Project X articles kept appearing in PHR (and occasionally on its cover) up until the magazine closed ten or so years ago. The Good Old Car Magazine Days are officially gone.

Rest in Speed, Jim.
