Can we revist passenger side mirrors?

"What is behind you, does not matter!"  ::)

That mirror is better then nothing and can help with this hypnotic tendency these cars have to mesmerize unsuspecting drivers to ride in your blind spots so that they can look at the car.

A remote adjuster would really help on the passenger side but you can get a "friend" to sit in the passenger seat and adjust the mirror for you.  8)

Then, when they start complaining that you are driving too fast, that mirror helps when you pull to the side of the road and tell them to get out and walk home. ;)

Pansies I tell you. My wife's fingernails are still stuck in the padded dash on the passenger side. Apparently in the day you only got hot chicks to envy the car when parked. As soon as they got in the car they started to bitch?

Now a days they probably will contact their lawyers on the cell phone and get a restraining order on you while still in the car?  ;)

I know that KRs did not come from the factory with side view mirrors on the passenger side. However, many have been installed by dealers and owners since that time. Since I drive my KR as often as I can, I'd like to have that sideview mirror for visibility and safety. Is it possible to get the mirror both symmetrical with respect to the original driver side mirror and, at the same time be able to actually see out of it?  I've noted on some European cars that the symmetrical look of the mirrors does not allow one to actually use the mirror effectively! (This has happened to me on two of my own cars already.) Any suggestions for finding one that is as originals as possible for the passenger side, mounting information or anything else that would help me with this endeavor? Thanks, Steve
For decades mounting rear louvers on Mustangs and side view mirrors I use well nuts and SS screws. Well Nuts are used on boats. Any hardware store that sells fasteners or Fastenal should sell the well nuts and correct enough looking SS screws to mount the mirror. If you have a riv nut tool installer then you may want to go that route. I used well nuts on this car. My last louver kit was set up that the kit allowed you to install riv nuts so I went that route.

We solved those problems around our house with this simple rule "He/She with the keys drives as he please". It is very rarely violated, probably because I almost never drive when we're together. The rule covers the radio, the route, the speed, etc. My wife has always been very supportive of my gearhead mentality, and never once complained about the cars I've bought or sold. However, she refuses to ride with me in any of those cars, including the last 4-5 that I've purchased. Not even for a short drive.

By the way, the song you mentioned, "Make an ugly woman your wife",  I believe was actually done first by Jimmy Soul. Maybe Mungo Jerry did it to, I'm no musicologist.

add: Yes, I will be using rivnuts. Not sure why they include screws as that would be a terrible way to anchor the mirror. Thanks for the suggestion. Much appreciated.

The rubber well nuts can in some situations allow the mirror to vibrate compared to the solid foundation that the all metal rivnut provides . Been there done that. Fortunately if vibrating is a problem switching over to the the rivnut is a easy switch.

I've been fortunate with no vibration. I'd rivnut it on if you have the tool. I've done many mirrors over the years because the rivnuts were rusty, loose, etc and I didn't have the tool or knew at the time where to buy them. The well nuts create a watertight seal, easy to remove and why I loved using them on rear window louvers over the years. MY current Mach1 I put louvers on in 2015 and the NPD kit came with a tool for installing the rivnuts so I went that route. I was just offering another option that has served me well over the years.

Thanks for the information about the well lnuts, with which I was not familiar. I do have the rivet tool and boxes of SAE and metric riv nuts, so I'm all set. Thanks again, Steve.
