I'm hoping to fulfill one of my sister-in-law's bucket list items as a surprise gift in celebration of her 60th birthday. She has her bucket list posted in her home and one of the items listed is, "Drive a stick shift Mustang - A 1967 Shelby is the ultimate dream!" I've been searching for either a private owner or a business that owns her "ultimate dream" car that would allow her to take it for a drive. I understand and respect that, because of the value of these vehicles, many owners will not, under any terms, allow a stranger to drive it. IF, however, there are any 67 Shelby stick shift owners on this site who WOULD consider granting her this experience or has any suggestions on how I can make this happen for her, please reply. I'm looking for a car in or within a few hours drive time of St. Charles/St. Louis, Missouri. Thank you in advance for any information/leads/ideas you can offer.

I suspect she has a better chance of getting a ride, than to actually drive the car of her choice. Just the sheer liability of the owner allowing otherwise may put the desire out of her reach.

Thank you for the suggestion!
I actually started my search with doing that and none of the places I called currently had one in their inventory (one had a 67 Shelby race car but explained it wasn’t street legal or friendly to drive if you’re not a racer). However, I realize inventory changes so I will try back periodically. It was a mixed bag as to what their policies are regarding allowing someone to drive such a car should they get one in. Responses included everything from “Sure, but only in the lot or on a specific route outside the lot” (which is fine with me!) to “We’ll let her sit in it so you can take her picture, but no driving it”  (which is very kind but not what I’m looking for).
I appreciate your responses!
