The year was 1966 and Mr. Ken Miles was testing and approving one of the Hertz cars. The Real Ones  !

Did he ever test an automatic?  It is interesting to see his coat and tie dress code for the press photos. 8)

In the bottom photo (with the Champion Bridge in the background) you can see Turn Nine before it was modified for easier/safer entry at high speeds.  Kind of sadly ironic,  considering that's where Miles would die in the J-car, later that same year.

Mr. Miles was a manly man and would never get caught driving a gay ( we have an auto)  slush box...lol !

The bottom photo is either an outtake or is from the 1966 Car and Driver road test of a 4 speed Hertz (probably 6S048), that photo was taken in the pit area of New York National Speedway (as were the ones in the CD article). All the other photos that were posted were from Riverside (some were published in a 1980s Shelby American as part of an old interview with Ken Miles in 1966).
