We call this NOSTALGIA

By the way the BOSS has a set of 4.86 rear gears v.s. the MOPARS 3.91

The Mustang wins the first round (with an Elapsed Time of 15.28 seconds at 86.11 miles per hour / 138.58 kph).

The Dodge scored 15.43 at 91.82 mph / 147.77 kph – but its red-light haste disqualifies it automatically.

In round two, the story meets the same ending: the Ford shows the challenging Challenger who's Boss, with 15.11 seconds and 94.67 mph (152.35 kph) over 15.41 seconds, at 91.69 mph (147.56 kph).

Just hope and pray that a 2024 Ford Mustang EcoBoost 4 cylinder doesn't pull up next to your muscle car today.

Because it can run a quarter mile in 13.2 seconds at 103 miles per hour. Turn on the ice cold AC and tunes.....

Great article. Just wish they had spelled "Gloden age" correctly to read "Golden age." I thought a.i. was a thing that would outthink and outperform us. Yeah, and the Titanic was unsinkable..

Small block eight so live she feels
There she's parked beside the curb
Engine revving to disturb
She's the princess from his past
Red paint gold stripes damned she's fast"

The Boss is a turd with 486 gears and only runs 15s? Wonder what it would run with the stock 350s....17s? Jeeze...
Too bad the article is poorly written as well.

Those were considered fast cars back in the 1970's. Compared to the 1977 - 79 models they were freakin wonderful. Not many street cars went in the 14's or 13's.

With the exception of some special prepared cars that ran in the 11 or 12s all the other factory muscle cars small or big block where in the 14 - 15 and even 16 second 1/4 mile.

Woof Woof little doggies !

Dont get caught by an EcoBoost 4 cylinder mustang today

Because you will be DUST in the winds!

98SVT - was 06GT

My stock 1970 Road Runner ran 14 4s off the showroom floor - 383 with a 3 speed. Yeah I bought the Sally Rand model. The only accessory was the AM radio. I had to get the 3 speed so I could afford insurance. A 19 year old with a 4 speed was considered a lethal weapon by the insurance companies.
By the time I sold it it was running in the 12 7s - 440 with full manual B&M Torqueflite.
